Off Topic Were you a tearaway as

If you ever get to see the stadium of light, just remember that is built on the site of one of the biggest mines in the NE.

The old roker park is a housing estate, filled with little cardboard houses, but cool street names.

 

Sounds like sensible place to build a stadium ?

Where I live now it's riddled with mine shafts from the Tin mining days. Sometimes they open up in people's back gardens or worse still under their living rooms. There was one a few years ago in Redruth in somebody's back garden. One morning they heard the ground rumbling beneath them before a 300ft deep hole opened up

the wearmouth mine went miles out to sea.

I remember climbing over the walls of the old roker park, and having a kick around on the pitch, then some fat old security bloke trying to chase us.

 

What sort of mine was that mate ?

There's a tin mine just up the road from me that has lodes that went out under the Atlantic. Apparently the miners used to be able to hear boulders getting tossed about by the sea above them as they chipped away at the rock with picks.

summer of 76 - heatwave and all that.

me and mates diving off a boat and larking about, and somehow the boat capsized and sank.

we swam to shore, and as bad luck would have it the owner was on the beach and reported us to the police - we all got nicked and charged with criminal damage.

Sounds like boat probably already had problems if diving off it and just rocking about on it caused it to tip.

In them days you used to get plenty and a bottle of milk for free. I especially loved it when they did roast spuds.

Clearly I've butt hurt you at some point, so you resort to....That I must have had free school dinners and didn't have a phone as a kid...which is all true. I can only assume you've been used to getting your own way in life, like a spoilt kid, litle ern the mummy's boy, so much so, you come on at 1.45am in the morning, because I'm in still in your thoughts into the early hours of the morning

 

lol, one of us is butt-hurt, but my psterior is free from pain. And yes, I am used to getting my own way, it's great. Spoiled? skiing holidays, computers, bikes, I even got a brand new car for my 18th.

 

And yet you end up on here with the rest of us
