Always a subjective viewpoint, but I'll offer this as my choice. I wasn't there but have watched Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture (Hammersmith Odeon 1973) many times, including just before and whilst posting this. Unfortunately, I can't post a link for the entire concert because Youtube inform me it's are banned on 'copyright grounds' here. However, here's a few tasters, showing three sides of the master showman (Rock, ballads and mime) - eat your hearts out Mercury fans! R.I.P. David & Mick.
Very subjective and to know the answer you would have to had witnessed every rock concert in the last 50 years !
The best concert I have seen was Tears For Fears at Leeds Arena earlier this year. I went with my missus, adult daughter and adult son. We had a great time before the gig and it seemed like the concert only lasted two minutes. That’s a sure sign that it was a good un.
Had the chance to go but turned it down. Best band I’ve seen live though - Kiss. And I’ve seen quite a few.
Said this before on here so apologies but Deep Purple 1973 at City Hall Newcastle. Safc were playing at Roker that night in the 5th round replay. I had a ticket for DP that night and before the oncour Ian Gillan announced the result and the whole place went up - wish it was like that now
Re Live Aid. The Who were the best in London, Hall and Oates were the stars in America. Seen em both several times. Not as good as Tears For Fears !
Rage against the Machine, Rock City, Nottingham ... ... the only time I've ever seen people leaving a concert in a stunned silence.
Wish could have seen a lot of older bands live always thought should have been born 40 years earlier.
Queen at St James were very good On a personal note I was fortunate to see Pat Benatar on her only UK tour and she did play the City Hall - therefore this concert will always have great memories for me
Led Zep at the Mayfair, Free at the Locarno both promoted by JD. And not forgetting the Stones at the Odeon.
Uriah Heep 76/77 1st band I ever seen so enjoyed that. The Stones at Scumbag park, early 80s I think. Wasnt a massive Stones fan but Jagger was a brilliant showman. Genesis (early shows). Gabriel absolutely superb. Seen loads of others but them off the top of my head.
