His takeover of Falkirk has fallen through.
It seems it was the right thing to do not to get him involved here

Some say that campbell and his mates see a lot of unrealized value of land assets of old british football clubs fallen on hard times.
Buy the clubs for a song, strip out the real estate assets and throw a few Bob at the club to keep fans happy.
Fans at such clubs will grasp any straw if they think the club might be on the cusp of recovery from allegedly rich new owners.
Pompey went through it with 2 or 3 new 'owners'. All of them were asset strippers who nearly took the club down the pan.
Fans were seduced when they heard the owners were connected to wealthy Arabs.
They were in fact get rich quick flunkies.
It's one thing to do due diligence. The other side of the coin is that new owners meet and comply with 'Fit and Proper ' person criteria.

Donald did say at the time, that Campbell was relatively potless, and wouldn't have enhanced the fortunes of SAFC at all

Surprised we didn't get him it would be typical Sunderland he takes over then the Dell boys come sniffing about.

Aye I know they have just invested at the moment but it's pretty obvious that they will be looking to take full control once we progress. Even one of them considers himself the owner as @Smug in Boots was shown in the text.

I have a good feeling just really hope don't get kicked in the bollocks!

Probably be pissing it down but I'll still be loving it HWTL!

We can’t help worrying about being kicked in the bollocks it’s happened too many times for us not to, but if we can’t get our hopes up about a huge investment, really what’s the point. It’s much more fun than analysing everything to look for negatives. I’ll worry about negatives when they happen.

Guess it just shows how long negotiations can go on for in relation to a football club takeover :emoticon-0105-wink:

If i recall he started negotiations with Falkirk just before we started with FFP

We've got them interested enough to sink £9M into the club, so thankfully, we've already avoided the usual kick in the bollocks.
CM confirmed that they're looking at a medium to long term view, so they clearly intend to be here for a while.
I think we'll get the definitive answer on a full takeover, as and when we get promoted. Gives us all something to look forward to, doesn't it?

I do think they will eventually take over but once we progress up the leagues.

They are probably looking and thinking we've got the fan base, infrastructure and AOL.

If invest in all them like they say and the fan experience that is a solid foundation to build on. Aye we may develop and sell players but that is the only sustainable model in modern football unless you are at the top. Look at the mags that hate Ashley for it but he has them sorted.

Hopefully they want to get us into the position that the mags are in then look to pump a bit extra in and try get us top 8-10 regularly.

Much cheaper option than having to spend 350m on mags then have massive wage bill, bell end fans who throw toys out pram, high legacy payments and a mass amount of money invested to keep them up whilst getting rid of the ****e.

IMO we are the perfect investment opportunity and these lads are elite businessmen anything that they do is a success and hopefully we will be another one for them!

Spot on. I can't think of any better ones.

The infrastructure is generally in place, but just needs a little tinkering to maximise the potential. We smashed the 3rd division attendance record last season, and will beat it again imo, if the football keeps improving under Parky, and we get in to the top 2. We've got a stadium that can be easily extended (thanks to Sir Bob) and a Category 1 Academy, with excellent facilities. The price for picking up this club is a snip really compared to similar sized clubs.

It can't be ignored, that the streamlining done by the current owners, although painful for us fans to witness, was necessary, and has resulted in us looking so ripe for investment.

Lots of people saying extra investment will be linked to future promotions, whilst I'm all for that I hope we're not heaping pressure on PP and the players that they can't deliver.
We need to get started on a winning run from tomorrow's match, so the pressure is there already.
We'll have to wait and see.

Now that we've got the first stage (hopefully) of the investment, I think the mood in the ground will be more upbeat, which should be noticeable to the players, and allow them to express themselves, and enjoy the experience.

Donald and Methven must have been doing some side eye when Campbell was talking about extending the seating capacity when it's nowhere near full as it is.

I'm not sure he was ever a viable candidate but I'm certainly glad it worked out how it did. The entire ownership (and investment) team is bang on in terms of how it looks for the future. If there are any question marks they're over Sartori, I believe he's been recently made a senator on the other side of the world and you'd imagine that would take up 90% of his time and energy.

As long as it doesn't take up 90% of his cash it's fine by me <laugh>

I want to like Sartori.. I just struggle to see what he's brought to the club so far, we've certainly not seen any sniff of a Uruguayan talent in neither the youth nor first team - maybe he's Donald and Methven's backup if things go tits up.. maybe something else.

It seems strange that his involvement was obviously on the wane yet now he's apparently going to be more involved than ever.
