Good Morning. Its Friday 1st November, and here is the latest news from Elland Road

    Injury to Bamford delights fans

Bielsa revealed in his pre match press conference that Patrick Bamford is set for a spell on the sidelines; due to the ankle injury he picked up at Hillsborough last weekend.

The 26yo turned his ankle during the latter parts of the first half, and was obviously in discomfort when he came off at half time.

Will Nketiah finally get his chance?

It was also revealed that Alioski and Douglas are doubts having also picked up knocks..

The best news is that Hernandez and Cooper are fit to play! His original muscular problem was followed up by a hamstring strain which he suffered almost a fortnight ago for the U23's against Crewe.

Scottish International Cooper accompanied Bielsa in his pre match press conference and claims he is fully fit after his groin strain.

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

There is only one subject for me today and thats a story coming out of TA that Bielsa has told Orta to get him a striker lined up for January. Very specific on what type and given a couple of names to Orta. This is because he is getting more unhappy with our conversation rate. So reality is that Bielsa is desperate to show the teams improvement and at the moment isnt. This also means Ryan Edmondson will be loaned out or even sold in January IF WE SIGN A STRIKER.

    Kiko
    Aying White Copper Davis
    Phillips
    Costa Pablo Klich Harrison

If we sign a recognised striker in January, couldn't we loan out Bamford instead?

Morning Eric "Recognised Striker" comes with a big transfer fee and big wage. I reckon it will/could be someone you have never heard of but someone Bielsa has watched or someone Bielsa thinks could smash it in this league. Example of what I mean is Morelos the Columbian striker at Rangers who has scored 72 goals in his last 123 starts. Bielsa demands a striker plays in a specific way so knows what he wants and knows if a striker is capable of delivering.

if you use google and look at Under the radar strikers you may get a shock as some of Europes best strikers are unknown until this season

Hi Doc When I said recognised I actually meant somebody who scores goals for a living. I fully expect somebody I haven't heard of, just so long as they fit the system and score goals I wouldn't care if they were called Kim Jong Un, although I suspect he is a little short and wide.

Morning all. Anyone coming in January will be a loan. Remember ffp and no dosh blah blah. How could Bielsa be happy with our conversion rate, its only a section of fans trying to fool themselves that well be fine and will soon start banging in three or four per game. I still think Eddie will come up trumps if he gets any kind of service. Hopefully Pablo will stay fit for a decent period, were about half the team without a Pablo at his best

Now that looks a better side with the introduction of Pablo & a natural goalscorer starting. Eddie will benefit from Hernandez's creative skills.

Bamford is another injury-prone player, tbf to him he does take a battering from opposition defenders.

    Good morning all..

Something that I was mulling over whilst driving round yesterday... Our U23s walked the league last season, we had a clear out, brought some new ones in and kept a few, I’m a little disappointed more are not knocking on the door.

More frustration that Bielsa has announced his team, the opposition would have set up to face Bamford, maybe they’d have put a big guy man marking him, now they know they need pace and an entirely new approach.

If Alioski and Douglas are out then it has to be Dallas at LB and Pablo back into the middle.

    grant Marcelo his request

Convinces me even more that Nketiah, Kiko, White & the potential signing James were on Bielsa's want list.

    Orta could almost become redundant

I’m assuming Pablo and Eddie will start. Looking forward to seeing how that could work out.

Ristac think with the academy clubs plans are cyclical and need to recycle players that the club believe need to progress their careers elsewhere and some sold and others who wont make it released.

our U18s and U23s last season smashed it, but this season the U18s are dire because many U18s are now regular U23s, but these new 23s replaced lots moved on in the Summer and getting experience now and results are not great. This is the professional development league, so clue in the title.

Under 18s now in the 23s:
    • Casey (D)
    • Cresswell (D)
    • Shergill (D)
    • Jenkins (M)
    • Kenneh (M)
    • McCalmont (M)
    • Bogusz (M)
    • Shackelton (M)
    • Huggins (F)
    • McKinstrey (M)
    • Amor (M)
    • McCarron (M)
    • Struijk (D)
    • Hosannah (D)
    • Gotts (D)
    • Kun (F)
    • Edmondson (F)
    • Stevens (F)

    • Some of these players are in their 2nd season of U23s as you will recognise but many are babies playing against men in the 23s league and on top of that those players you recognise are missing lots of 23 teams as they are with the first team. So a moving feast mate of coaching and developing. Edmondson is the senior player but could still play for the U18s

So essential ingredients for this wonder striker in January are
    1. Big and able to pull whole defences all around the field
2 A good header of the ball
3 Quality finisher with both feet
4 Guarantee minimum 15 goals in second half of season
5 Extremely cheap/free or available on loan
6 All or 90% of wages to be covered by parent club if a loanee otherwise 10k a week
Have I left out any qualifications?
Cant wait to see what Orta comes up with <doh>
