We are all guessing mate but 3 billionaires have decided to invest, by L1 standards, a fortune into the club. Throw in their mate and business partner is Mr Dell with a £37b fortune. This is good news.

Challenge for Mr Donald and Mr Methven and us as supporters is we need to prove we are worthy of bigger longer term investment as and when it is needed.

The saddest thing about this news today is that there will be safc fans on rtg who will be hoping for some bad news in the morning papers about this investment

That is a really strange response to news that 3 billionare businessman are investing a significant sum in our club.

    Care to elaborate?

Ok so I've only seen this about half an hour ago and I'm trying to figure out what's actually happpened.

FPP have invested in Madrox rather than the club directly. But does Donald own his share of the club through Madrox, meaning that they do actually have a level of ownership which is not being disclosed? Or is it more that FPP have invested in Donald's company under the conditions that he invests those funds into the club?

As for the plan itself, I'm a massive fan of focussing on the academy, scouting and recruitment. In the long term, this club can only be successful by producing its own players or buying players earlier in their careers and selling at a profit. A couple of extra players in January wouldn't go amiss, but I'm far more interested in us setting up our long term strategy.

    Basically this.

The ONLY issue people have mentioned is that the fpp lot arent getting a percentage in the club. So theres wondering whether it's just a loan or a down payment on a takeover down the line etc. I doubt we will find out either tbh as its confidential.

They know Donald is risk averse and IF we go up he hasn't got the means to push on.

    Have a think about it.
That poster and his negative naysayer mates are convinced the takeover was never going to happen and pledged whatever miserable credibility they had on this being 100% fact. Belittling and insulting smug was part of their armory.
Now it has been confirmed/signed off
An american consortium ( inc Dell ) has invested a considerable sum in us, these miserablistas are incandescent with rage and are unable to deal with being so horribly wrong.
Next plan for them, undermine the deal, cast aspersions on the investors etc etc.
Poor dears are beside themselves with grief.
You know the sort. Picture an over indulged toddler in a shop whose mother has refused to buy said toddler what they demand. Cue, beetroot face, banshee like screaming, stamping of feet, deluges of snot pouring out of nostrils.
Yes you got it..the poster you responded to and his cohorts.

But are they really fans? Anyone not excited, or at very least encouraged by today's news, should forget football and take up knitting

People keep saying 10m, but 8 figures could be up to 99 million 999 thousand 999 pounds (and 99 pence)

I doubt its that much, but realisticly could be up to 20 million or so if it includes investment in the SOL and the entire fan experience. The company I work for (consultancy firm) completely revamped and digitalized a rugby teams systems, fan experience etc from a to z and that can cost a few million by itself.

Means nowt necessarily but the first thing they did with their Miami team was sink approx 44 mil into developing the club, if I'm remembering it right, that's an 8 figure sum.

Whatever the case is it sounds like they're keeping their cards close to their chest and that's wise unless you like wasting money.

Thanks for all you've done and all the info you've given over the two sites. It's been a bit of a roller coaster but you have stuck to your guns and can now sit back and have a good laugh.
    Much appreciated!

avoided this for a few days (mainly) but after reading the news i am one happy bunny...so it is not a 'full take over' but this is one hell of a deal done for a league one club, those spitting feathers about donald and charlie now have the news they dreaded as the lads have pulled of a wee bit of a 'coo' here.

massive investment for a league one club and what we all believe is simply a stepping stone to bigger/better things once the footballing side is sorted and the club begins to move back to the premier, i very much doubt this club will ever get this kind of deal again, or that any other div 3 team would be able to pull it off.

fingers crossed, still plenty work to do but after recent weeks we can all look forward again ;)

It sounds like great news, especially if it's a Marlin type deal that leads to them owning a major shareholding in the club, or an eventual; takeover.

However, I'm looking forward to hearing more details because, at this stage, there are still:-

As I've posted before, if he is who I think he is any accountancy knowledge is based upon nothing more than a business management course he attended at Sunderland Poly/Uni, after gaining entry (without a single qualification - he's a self admitted autistic), under their 'Equal Opportunities' program.

You’re probably going to get a lot of these replies mate, but it’s been a pleasure reading your updates. The offer of a beer or two is still on with me and Mrs EJK either before or after the Bolton game on Boxing Day. And I suppose @Confucius can come along as well

I've just read the following post by G.O.M - He's the only person who I trust with analysis of financial/company information, make of it what you will.

"Just noticed there's a parallel capital restructuring in SAFC SUNDERLAND ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL CLUB,LIMITED(THE) - Filing history (free information from Companies House)

The overall effect of these changes will be to clear the negative balance in retained earnings. If and when they club makes profits, this would allow the club to pay dividends in future. It may be that the Americans are initially looking at creating non-voting preference shares. This would leave the ownership situation unchanged as regards voting shares, but allow them to receive dividends. In some ways, it's similar to the financing arrangements for the Florida Marlins. I must stress this is total speculation on my part - I have no evidence that this is what is intended. But the capital changes would make that more possible."
