The Caribou Cup, one of the most prestigious trophies that can be won (should we win it, of course). Not for us a whimsy team of children plucked from the academy - so dour has our season been that we are fielding a near full-strength team. No excuses then, Chelsea are fielding a team of virtually unknowns so I reckon we will crash 3 - 0.

Just seen a couple of replays of the Rashford free kick, if you see it watch Martials reaction. He is running toward goal hoping for a knock down from the keeper or a rebound from the woodwork (maybe even hoping for a pass) but as soon as it hits the net he stops dead and turns to look at Rashford with a wtf look on his face <laugh>

So United have not won away since April and now win 3 in a row. The media can no longer use that specific stick to beat the team with.

But this particular work in progress can improve significantly if there was a reliable penalty taker. Had we had a Denis Irwin United would have been in a much better position and Ole would not have been in so much pressure.

Fingers crossed we'll convert the penalties we get as we will be punished no doubt for squandering these opportunities.

Good reason for Liverpool to pull out the competition now, and then be accused of disrespecting and killing the league cup.

    Good luck with that.

I can't believe that Klopp made that statement. What a fkin arrogant prick! Imagine if he won the treble...

We should sell players that bring themselves before the team. Matic should not be allowed to play for United again after his public statements about the manager. We should take the money from Real and get rid of Pogba. Start building around players that know what it means to be at the club.

Even after 3 wins, Ole is by no means out of the woods. He has to show that the team is starting to learn from mistakes and playing for him under a known system that yields consistent results.

I can honestly say that I cannot see how having Pogba in our side for these last few games would have in any way improved us. He is the most dispossessed player in the PL and he offers nothing to the industry and energy that the present side is showing. I can see the need for some guile and experience in midfield but I can't see that being provided by Pogba. I say get rid while we'll still get good money for him.

Think I might have mentioned this in another thread but, as a plaster fix while moving Pogba quickly along in January, could Ozil provide that guile?

Keep McTominay and Fred as CM's and have Ozil behind Rashford, Martial and James. (Mandzukic available a at No.9 or, preferably big Zlatan)

We could also maybe consider Isco in part ex for Pogba of course but Ozil is at least already bedded into the PL.

Then buy again in the summer.

Can't actually believe I said the Ozil bit!!!

And Fred seems to be improving each game he plays - whoever thought you could say that. Isco and Kroos for Pogba would make for excellent business.

I wouldn't be against Ozil, but I would hate us paying stupid amounts in salary. If he is passionate about getting back into football, we should only take him if he is willing to take a pay cut. We don't need another Sanchez scenario.

I too hope Pogba never returns. As GF alluded, he completely zaps energy and cohesion out of the side. I very much prefer watching players like McTominay over prima donna punks that have nothing to show for their arrogance.

We paid £57m for Fred. We need to continue to give him solid game time to become more comfortable. Players never get better sitting on the bench.

No one has said that these 3 away wins showed that United had at last made it. No chance. But what we saw was renewed confidence and energy. The attack had more purpose but this is not ****ing surprising when martial is now back and rashford has rediscovered his mojo. I'd be more confident in the team if we had a reliable penalty taker.

As for Pogba he may lose us possession frequently but he is one of the few players who can unlock a team that comes to defend at OT. So while we could consider selling him in the summer he is crucial to our search for that European spot.

Statistically, Pogba is ineffective for us, especially when you consider how much we paid for him. 1. The simple fact is he has not been consistent for us in his years here. We are often just as sht with him playing in the side. 2. He doesn't inspire the rest of the team from leadership standpoint to elevate our game.

I still remember when Rashford was chasing a hat-trick, won a penalty, only for Pogba to insist on taking it and still missed. That moment for me exemplifies what's wrong with the team under Pogba's leadership.

So no! I don't think we have any evidence to back the notion that he is crucial to the team. Getting rid of him will be addition by subtraction for this team with far more effective and younger replacements on the market.
