Yes, if anything proves that we're Saints fans first and football fans second this is it. If I were going to watch a cricket match and one of the opposition's star players was injured I'd feel gutted (unless it was Steve ****bag Smith). Should a 24 hour virus afflict City meaning that they had to turn out a team of programme sellers and players' grannies I'd be delighted
I am worried. When even the voice of reason as she was known has us doomed, we are doomed. Or is it a reverse jinx
Supporting Saints is like those scary episodes of Dr Who and the Daleks when we were kids. Everyone was scared and worried, but as soon as it was over we told our friends we enjoyed it.
I feel as though a great weight has been taken off me since deciding that we almost certainly are doomed. If we turn out not to be doomed, that will be a huge bonus. But if we don’t win another game all season, I will bear the slings and arrows with the fortitude that comes with acceptance. On the other hand, I reserve the right to ride a rollercoaster of conflicting emotions all the way til May.
I agree that the performance was still poor at City on Tuesday but the result was no worse than we would have got under RK or MP1. We can only fix one thing at a time so it's a step in the right direction. I expect to see a better performance on Saturday. You could see some of the belief returning in the second half in the cup game.
My simulator had us win 3-1 with Djenepo opening the scoring, followed by Ward-Prowse and Adams coming on to get his first goal for the club...
If I were Ralph I would seriously consider resting everyone who played against Leicester except redmond. We will lose whatever we do so better to send a message.
If every there was a time to go get an experienced centre half in jan this is it - well it isnt its nov but you get my drift - i know we like to invest in younger players but we need an experienced head who can sort things out at the back. I dont think the current group will recover from the 9 0 enough to keep us up. 3 at the back is killing us it invites team onto us the full backs dont get up the pitch into a 352 for fear of exposing the central defence and redmond ends up with nobody to pass to when we break. We are a player short in midfield and the opposition know it and go at us from kick off. We need to go to 4 at the back but need an experienced cb to make it possible.
I find it amazing that in the space of a week all the previous posts about Ralph being our best coach since Koeman have vanished. No one seems prepared to make that kind of statement now. I was somewhat on the fence about Ralph's abilities. There is little I have seen in the home matches that has suggested he is some sort of technical genius but I would have to say the best performances have come away from home. We will lose tomorrow but I don't think we will put in another Leicester-like performance. There will be a reaction from the players but if we don't get three points against Everton, then I think Ralph will be gone. The Leicester result has considerably dented his reputation and which had not been helped because I feel a lot of fans had cut him more slack than he was really due even though he was compromised by the lack of recruitment in the summer. It has only been over the last week that most people have started to have some doubts about him.
