Was going to try to get a particular Dave Brubeck track linked, but it doesn't exist on YT [or DailyMotion], so you will have put up with Joe Jackson, from that explosive album Body and Soul. This is You Can't Get What you Want: This album is an absolute treat on vinyl. There is zero compression. It shows what an over 100 year old technology can easily do, given the chance. Produce music realistically. Do remember that this is still a digital rendition [CD] off Youtube. So it sounds worse than the real record. I promise you it doesn't have weight, feel or depth of the vinyl LP version. I've done the direct comparison. Then again, I suppose you don't have to keep cleaning it.
Ahhh - the Pre-Fab Four. Wonderful stuff. Neil Innes was SO clever writing those songs that could have so easily been Beatles ones. Love all of them. Thanks for this, Marv!!
Ok, it's the incomparable Dukes of Stratosphear: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_luTs-UQeVArRcXR0HzdWhngnn5AYM7b9w
This just popped up on random play on my Amazon Prime. Reminded me again of just how good this was. From the album of the same name - the third LP I bought and one I very nearly wore out.
In all the excitement I completely forgot to post this yesterday, but yesterday was Grace Barnett Wing Slick’s 80th birthday! Happy Birthday Grace, from a lifelong fan:
