I get that some people probably didn't care what a leave vote entailed, I did care and still do so I couldn't vote for something I had no idea on.

Thats exactly why I didnt vote. I basically let the rest of the country decide for me. **** my pants when they voted to leave! When folk voted way back when to join the EU it has turned out that they didnt really know what they were voting for either. Its changed beyond all recognition. General elections, the government voted in never really turn out how you would like. What happens? They get a crack at governing then get kicked out if they are ****. What doesnt happen is that if the losing party dont like the result they dont demand another election before the new PM steps foot in No.10. So regarding the referendum? We voted to leave the EU, we need to see what its like outside the EU. If its **** we will have to either deal with it or hope the Germans let us back in. As long as there is at least 1 clever as **** leave voter, who fully understood the negative implications of leaving, knew he was being lied to by his own side, all his predictions since coming true, then for his sake, Brexit must go ahead. It would be very undemocratic on the poor chap if it doesnt.
No one knows what we’re in for when we leave mate, I’m not believing anyone who saying it’s gonna be this or that good or bad. I voted to leave because I knew what it was like in the EU and the way Britain was treated by them. I’m no politician but from my point of view I would rather we were a democratic country and do what the democrat voted for.
Not just in the north east mate, Corbyn isn’t doing it for the Labour Party he’s doing it for his own reward like many MPs
We have a better idea now what leaving may entail than we did back when the referendum happened though don't we? I'm not saying we should do this or that, just saying what I'd like to happen and why. For what it's worth I don't think it'd happen.
I am unfortunately a labour party supporter who was a reluctant leave voter. Corbyn is no Michael Foot ( and he was stuffed in the polls by Thatcher) . I am not in favour of Corbyn. My constituency long standing MP retired and we have a new prospective MP by and large foisted on us by HQ. Too many MPs from leave constituencies in my view say leave voters are wrong and they are right in voting remain. Its going to be interesting to see how some MPs fare in the election. Personally I cannot vote tory or Farage...not sure what to do...waste my vote by ticking green?
I don't like the EU. I don't mind agreeing trade deals alongside them (we'll get better deals as part of a big group) so a customs union is fine by me, I think we should work together in terms of security, but other than that we should be separate. Even the way they've done it has pissed me off. Why not agree the future relationship bit first, then agree with withdrawal bill? That way we know there's no cliff edge which helps both sides, as soon as we withdraw we have an agreement to kick in. That way we come up with a good future arrangement and, happy with it, we say "spot on, here's the money we owe etc". This way of doing it as soon as we leave there's going to be disruption until, if ever, we agree a future relationship
Do what I might do, see if there's a decent little independent person who actually gives a **** about the area and is standing because they're passionate about it even though they know there's **** all chance they'll ever get in. They'll be buzzing at every extra vote they get and it might even help them get their deposit back if they're lucky
The independents cleaned up from Labour in the last council elections, in Jarrow. I suspect they'll take the seat from Labour at this GE, too.
For what it’s worth mate I don't think it’ll happen either, think Corbyn and and the likes will get their way and I can see another referendum which then raises the question of “why bother”
Our MP is Tim Farron Lib Dems one time leader who since the referendum has actively sought to ditch that result for his own and his parties own ends. I voted to stay three and a bit years ago but was happy to accept the result which is what democracy is, unfortunately our MP s apparently don't see it that way, and I've said I will never vote again as it's a complete waste of time. However like others I now have a burning desire to rid this area of our sitting MP, so I will go along and vote on 12th December for anyone other than Mr Farron.
Good! Too many from the major parties are just in it for the career. I'm sure there's some who are passionate, but you've got to be really committed to stand as an independent knowing that many don't even read what you've got to say and will vote for the party they always vote for! The more independents in parliament the better, at least they'll always vote how they feel, as opposed to having "whips" telling them what to do, in theory they should be refreshingly honest
Agree with all of this. I voted leave (naively) after reading into it a lot, but the picture of the best possible Brexit that was portrayed is not on the menu. I'd accept getting out with some kind of deal now, but I'd much rather it went back to a referendum, now that we're more informed about what we voted for. As for the election, I'll be focusing on other policies and voting Labour. 10 years of the Conservatives has seriously damaged our public services and hurt the poorer people in this country and it can't continue.
To be perfectly honest, I voted leave in the referendum purely because the leave party put up a better argument at the time. I hate the way people haven’t accepted democracy. I would never vote for Corbin, but my concern is if the Brexit party ran in the election, they could take a load of votes off the tories, leaving labour with a clear run.
Whoever wins this election, they need to reform the way we vote, the FPTP system is broken. A fairer system is required of electing our MP's so that they encompass a wider/broader spectrum - not just the stale doctrines of 'left or right' this leads to extremism or extremist parties which we have in place right now. I would not vote in any way that would harm or hurt any of my European family and friends- that currently live or wish to live in the UK. Since the Brexit referendum, I have witnessed first hand far more small minded prejudice and discrimination and it is steadily worsening. Having said that, I also believe it could be true that 'voting only encourages the bastards' as Billy Connolly (iirc) once quoted.

Democracy. Pfft! The referendum was based on gut feeling. There were no real facts available, but the leavers were proactive, 'taking back control, keeping out the foreign rabble' The remain argument was weak, 'let's do nothing, it'll be ok'. And now apparently the 48% who voted remain are not allowed to question the result. That's pretty undemocratic if you ask me.
Another referendum after the once in a lifetime referendum.... could anyone trust parliament or the elite to honor the next result? would it then be a best of three.... or best of five? lol. Unless of course it was 52% to 48% for remaining.... parliament would accept it in a heart beat and would go back to the EU, cap in hand begging to be let back in. The EU take us back on their terms, Unelected bureaucrats terms!!! Accept the first result, implement that result, move on.
