Morecambe manager Jim Bentley has resigned and is expected to join National League side Fylde within the next 24 hours. He was longest serving league manager, having been at Morecambe for seventeen years, the last eight as manager.
I'm surprised Morecambe have lasted this long, they spend nearly every season around the bottom end of the league. Mind you, Kevin Ellison is still playing there, he's managed 340 league appearances for them.
His fitness levels are very good, he still plays the odd 90 minutes. Even at the bottom end of the Football League, that's still very impressive at his age.
What's happened to Fylde this season? I saw them as potential champs...Is the table the wrong way up?
