There are more positive posts than I was expecting, mind I started the thread not knowing anything about yesterday’s game other than the result.
I think we can and we will. It may need yet another trip to Wembley and be via the playoffs. We do need to start showing consistency by picking up away points and a good January transfer window will hopefully get us over the line. Finger nails are likely to be chewed again.
Yes. We'll be hovering around the playoffs until March, hit the top in early April and not look back.
I honestly think we will end the season a lot stronger than we started, this time around. I expect us not only to make the play offs but win it this time, yesterday was a big disappointment after the show against Tranmere, but was not helped by the enforced change, and one which should have been made but wasn't. The attacking style will bring us a lot more wins than last season and this should more than compensate for the odd set back, Team selection is vital, and the transfer window a bonus. OaU
No. I said we’d be between 6-10th at the start of the season and I haven’t seen anything that makes me think otherwise.
Nope. However, I hope these new lads will be ruthless and sack the absolute **** Donald has employed.
I reckon that'll be much clearer around Xmas time. This league is wierd in the way that everyone is capable of beating anyone else, and the teams that go up are the ones with consistency. If PP can get us playing to our strengths and we go on a good unbeaten run, then is backed over Xmas I still think we can do it. But he's got to turn us round pretty quick!
he’s already started imo, been soo much better in the games he’s managed so far with only a wk to get his message across. bit more time and I think we’ll be flying
Think we can do it, once PP sorts his squad out and they get used to this high pressing game which is creating lots more pressure then the results, will turn in our favour. Don't forget Shrewsbury have one of the best defensive records in this league this season and when they got their noses in front they didn't really threaten us a lot cos they didn't have to. We need to start taking our chances like we did on Tuesday, were not cut adrift yet and PP has to sort this out quickly and I'd use the forthcoming glut of cup games to bed in his best eleven with his preferred system of play.
There's been some encouraging signs, and as I said on the match thread it was the performance more than the scoreline against Tranmere that gave me a bit of optimism. Their defending was catastrophic and they were gifting us goals, but to see us have a shape, gameplan and work rate like that was quite something. So I guess I need to be consistent and say that: although the result was very disappointing, there were 'green shoots of recovery' in the performance and an improvement in final ball choice / finishing could see us improving results and going on that run.
A lot of going to depend on our luck with injuries, thanks to having such a lop sided squad. As long as we can stay in and around the top 6 until Christmas then hopefully bring in a couple or 3 reinforcements for the final push
I don't see top spot as realistic, Ipswich are looking very strong. If (and it's a big if) they hold on that leaves a group of teams all competing for one spot. Sunderland are in the mix and will continue to be so all season. Offer me Wembley now and I'd take it though. 50% chance of promotion after what it's been like so far, yes please.
The only way we'll go up automatically is to win about 8 games in a row at some point this season. Right now a run like that seems way off.
Undoubtedly take Wembley and I would be there, but prefer not be. Top two finish would suit me champion
