So how do you explain the fact that he has played in the premier league and played well?

I was a bag of nerves every time he was tackled on Tuesday.

He's better than some players currently there imo.

I can remember people saying PVA would never make a PL player ...

... he's rarely played anywhere else.

Sometimes it's a matter of luck and Watmore has had very little of that.

Fully agree. If the lad can play 25 or so from the remains 33, he will score and assist a canny few goals

he deserves a bit of luck as well the lad.

Far from it, I could see him going all the way, if he stays injury free, we might have trouble keeping up with him tbh.

Yeah it does and absolutely, can you imagine if we spent all that time and money rehabilitating him only for him to bugger off for free. Can't be allowed to happen, a years extension might be a good idea in case there's another injury.

Duncan Watmore deserves a large chunk of good luck and if he gets it SAFC will also be a major beneficiary as if he stays injury free he has the ability and attributes to take us to the Championship . The lad has had so many problems with injuries that has impacted on his career to date , if we can keep him fit we need to be talking to him about a new contract as other clubs will be trying to move in on him . The last thing we need is to see another player leave without us receiving any fee and the message it sends out to Academy players and younger players trying to get their career started at our club , we need to be doing everything we can to nurture them and ensuring that they want to stay with SAFC .

Remember folks saying we should pass on buying Alonso for 5 mil at end of loan... He wasn't worth it at that price and all that craic?

duncan looks like he has taken advice from somewhere...his runs now have an end product, in fact, look at his cross for gooch, he was on the deck a second before he got the ball, have always said it was his final ball that let him down.

while i agree he looks very sharp, how many times have we all heard footballers say that those first few games back are mainly the adrenalin kicking in after missing so many games, then the tiredness kicks in...he needs a little careful management right now to get up to full playing fitness, therefore i would be tempted to give him a couple of starts then a couple as sub.

It's not the best time of year for him to making a comeback, heavy rubbish pitches and league one thugs wont do him any favours. I totally agree that he should be used wisely , it would be horrible for the lad if he gets another bad injury...

Unless you're the one that's wrong. I asked you before, when you said he was a million miles away from being a premier league player, how do you explain the time that he played in the prem and did well?

Doesn't seem to be any answer to this and I'm not surprised because there isn't one.

To be honest I'll be surprised if he does sign another contract unless we go up as think he'll be looking for better money than we will be able to afford in this league.

Obviously any contract that he'd get whether it be from us or someone else will be largely dependent upon how many matches he manages to play between now and the end of the season.

People often talk about our legendary hard men, Ball, Kaye, Cattermole ...

... but I think Watmore tops them all.

He's still going in for tackles despite his horrific injuries.

I would have agreed with you until Tuesday night. If he can get fully fit he can be a major player for us from the start.
