I take it that you are unfamiliar with the use of metaphor.

Firstly, Brexit shouldn’t be about parties as mentioned earlier. It’s seperate and should be cross party.

Secondly, there is no going on too long for me, until we see sense and stop it or more unlikely, Brexiteers stop spouting rhetoric and give me some indications of what would be better leaving. I then might change my mind and join them. There’s naff all chance if the first thing but happening, so I doubt I’ll be changing my mind.

The 5% includes things like alignment of workers’ rights, the Working Time Directive, alignment of food standards, alignment on environmental protection, and other things. As Keir Starmer said the other day, they aren’t seeking to break the alignment with the EU on those things because they want to improve them, they could do that anyway. The only way is down.
And yes, I am saying they would willingly lower living standards for the sake of avoiding taxes. They have been doing it for 10 years, why would they stop now?
The parallels are there. I have studied Hitler’s rise and the kind of manipulation of the electorate which the current Tory Party are engaged in is chillingly similar. Of course no one is saying they have the same goals as the Nazis but a right-wing dictatorship of a Singapore-style tax haven is definitely on the cards.

You have faith in the essential decency of our political rulers. And so you should, in an ideal world (which this isn’t).

You're wrong about the first part. Firstly this isn't the agreement. It's a bill that makes changes to the withdrawal agreement that is already law. The vast majority of it is just saying change this date to this other date. And most the rest is just saying insert this cause here.
But because it is all modifications, it is all new. Trust me, I actually read a decent amount of it. You have to read each line in the bill, find the referenced section in the previous current law, and then modify it to find out what it says.

On the second part, think Trump and the lobbying he takes from oil companies and the NRA. It happens.

General election to be proposed on Monday. If supported, the election will take place before Christmas.

That is a very useful and easy to understand document.
I have copied it on to Facebook with an encouragement for people to read it and understand how the media used them to vote Leave, just so they and big businesses could continue to avoid paying fair/any taxes.
When you look at the dates the anti tax avoidance directive was first suggested (Jan 2016) and then accepted (3 days before the Brexit referendum) you can understand why the media went into anti EU/immigrant overdrive.

I doubt that Labour will go for it. Pfeffel is trapped on a rising tide. Let the bar steward stew!

I was about to say that they would have a majority with SNP but then remembered they need a 66% supermajority.

Personally I think an election is the best (although still very slim) chance of stopping brexit we have left.

It's high risk. If the opposition parties were to cooperate they have the numbers to scupper The Tories. If they slug it out amongst themselves then there is only one winner...well I suppose more than one when you take into account Pfeffel's currency speculating pals.

I think it would benefit Labour to have the referendum first, because they swung a lot of votes with their manifesto, last time, but I can see those votes being lost in the Brexit debate.
Get Brexit out of the way and the Lib Dems will disappear again and votes they may have gained from Labour, as a result of Labour’s dithering over Brexit, could now be lost owing to their abstaining from the vote to protect the NHS from further privatisation.
Labour need to go all out to get the young votes, and free university and lowering the age for receiving the full minimum wage will go a long way to getting them on board, which is why it would be good to get an amendment lowering the voting age to 16.

However surely if they feel the tories policies are wrong ....a general election is the only thing that can change that. It seems to me the only way Brexit can be stopped otherwise surely they are shirking responsibility??

A general election in December? Crazy, stupid and thoughtless. Proves that Johnson only thinks of himself. And no oñe else.

Let's start a campaign to make Johnson toast! Totally self-centred, failed relationships with members of his own party show he does not care for the country at all.
