Off Topic Dead lorry, yellow lorry

So 39 people found dead in the back of a lorry from Bulgaria.

I have a few questions

Why are 39 Bulgarians coming here in a lorry illegally?

why not enter legally? Via a ****ing plane or boat perhaps.

They may have been trafficked here as slaves/workers for Eastern European gangs?

This may not go down well, I don't expect it to. but if they're entering illegally then the obvious assumption is that they were here to do illegal work or worse.

It's awful that 39 peeps have died, but if they weren't in the back of a lorry going to another country illegally then this wouldn't have happened to them.

I'm assuming they are all Bulgarians as per the news so far and if that's the case then I can't feel much sympathy right now as theres no war there to flee from AFAIK I'm pretty sure what they would've been upto here had they "invaded"

 

Bulgaria shares a border with a number of non-EU countries: Turkey, North Macedonia and Serbia.
It's probably either the slavery option that you've suggested or refugees, though.

 

Yeh probably as it makes little sense to be fleeing Bulgaria in a lorry.

 

Especially as Bulgaria is in the EU, so a Bulgarian could just waltz in to this country with a valid EU passport. So yeah, I am guessing they are non-Bulgarians

 

Bulgaria is well used by the traffickers as a route West.

I thought that the lorry hadn't been in Bulgaria since 2017, the only connection between the truck and Bulgaria was the registration. I think you might want to do a bit more research before jumping to conclusions, just saying like

With all the migrants that have been coming across the channel recently into Dover and the surrounding areas, I would assume there is a high probability the dead are more likely to be from Syria etc.
