There’s something similar (maybe not as advanced) on the outskirts of Bicester.

There are low emission homes springing up in quite a few places, I believe. There is growing pressure on the UK government to legislate that new homes have to be of low or zero emission designs, which is only sensible when you consider that houses tend to be around for a 100 years at least. It just makes sense.

A murder investigation has been launched after 39 bodies were found inside a lorry from Bulgaria on an industrial estate in Essex.

A 25-year-old driver from Northern Ireland was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Local police and community sources told the Guardian that the arrested man was believed to be Mo Robinson, from Portadown, County Armagh.

    Essex police declined to comment.

Yes, read the headline earlier. Awful. Any details known? I assumed they died of asphyxiation, but I'm asking a mate who is a HGV driver if he would be able to hear people shouting and banging from a locked container if he was trucking it on a motorway.

ExxonMobil headed to federal court in Manhattan yesterday. The State of New York is suing the Big Oil giant on charges that the company misled its investors about the climate crisis. And as Baltimore joins New York, Massachusetts, and other cities and counties in the lawsuit arena, it looks as though Big Oil is going to be spending a lot of time on trial in the future.

Baltimore joins other cities and states in lawsuits that claim the companies are responsible for the climate crisis, and that they have misled investors. The Maryland city says Big Oil has put the city at risk due to rising sea levels.

    The Hill reports:
The city of Baltimore’s lawsuit against a group of 26 major oil companies over their role in climate change will proceed after the Supreme Court rejected the energy giants’ request for a stay [yesterday].
The oil companies had asked for the Supreme Court to intervene after a federal judge ruled that Baltimore’s lawsuit could proceed in state court. The companies had sought to move the litigation to federal court in order to avoid potentially expensive litigation.
The group of companies includes BP, Chevron, ExxonMobil, and Royal Dutch Shell.

Regarding the New York ExxonMobil trial, Inside Climate News points out:
The civil case is the first major climate change lawsuit to reach trial in the United States, and it is the culmination of four years of investigation by the New York state attorney general’s office.
The central allegation is that Exxon fraudulently used two sets of books to estimate the risks it faces as governments take steps to cut greenhouse gas emissions: one that was shared with investors and another that was used only internally. The public estimate was higher, suggesting a future with stricter limits on emissions, while the internal figures were lower, reflecting more lenient regulations.
Kevin Wallace, the attorney general’s investor protection bureau’s acting chief, said in his opening statement, “We are not telling Exxon how to run its business. But it has to be honest with investors.” Former US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who is also Exxon’s former chair and chief executive, is expected to appear in court in New York.
On October 10, the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office sent a notice to ExxonMobil of their intent to sue the company in civil court for violating the state’s Consumer Protection Act “by engaging in unfair or deceptive acts” regarding fossil fuels.

Big Oil is basically being sent warning that they are now being pursued big time. Cities all over the world are going to line up oil companies and charge them with knowingly misleading investors, then the health of populations, by hiding crystal clear data from the 1970's, 80's to present day, on predicted raised levels of CO2 and other greenhouse gasses caused by leakage and combustion of fossil fuels, and causing Global Warming, and hence Human Induced Climate Change.

However. Whilst Big Oil is absolutely bang to rights, I wonder the depth of collusion with governments. Who are the innocent ones here?

    UPDATE:
My HGV mate says he heard a few details on the truck container story. It was a fridge container that was locked and sealed. The driver wouldn't have been able to hear a thing. So if those 39 were alive when they got in they wouldn't have lasted very long. Basically, they would have slowly died through breathing their own CO2.

The police now believe the lorry and container came directly from Zeebrugge in Belgium, and never went to Northern Ireland. I guess the confusion arose because the driver, who is in custody, comes from NI.

I feel sorry for the driver who has his name all over the press. I doubt this was intentional by him. It sounds like all he did was pick up the sealed trailer in London.

My thoughts exactly. If this is the case, not only does he have to live with the fact that he drove blissfully unaware of what was behind him, but there will always be whispers behind his back. If he knew of course, throw the book and some at him.

    Once upon a time….
The king called on the royal weather forecaster and inquired as to the weather forecast for the next few hours.
The royal weatherman assured him that there was no chance of rain for at least 4 days.
So the king went fishing with his wife, the queen.
On the way he met a farmer on his donkey.
Upon seeing the king the farmer said.
“Your Majesty, you should return to the palace! In just a short time I expect a huge amount of rain to fall in this area.”
The king was polite and considerate, he replied.
“Thanks for your concern, but don’t worry. It’s not going to rain today. I hold the palace meteorologist in high regard. He is an extensively educated and experienced professional. And besides, I pay him very high wages. He gave me a very different forecast. I trust him.”
So the king continued on his way. However, a short time later a torrential rain fell from the sky.
The King and Queen were totally soaked and their entourage chuckled upon seeing them in such a shameful condition.
Furious, the king returned to the palace and gave the order to fire the professional.
Then he summoned the farmer and offered him the prestigious and high paying role of royal forecaster.
    The farmer said.
“Your Majesty, I do not know anything about forecasting. I obtained the information about rain today from my donkey. If I see my donkey’s ears drooping, it means with certainty that it will rain very soon.”
So the king hired the donkey instead.
And thus began the practice of hiring dumb as$es to work in the government and occupy its highest and most influential positions.
The practice is unbroken to this day!…
