Couldn't quite make him out, but guessed so. I did note Harrison trot towards the breakaway. If he'd stood on the gas like Phillips, the situation might have been avoided, but he ambled. I assumed he was knackered, which he may well have been, tbf, as I can't remember his contribution leading up to it.
Him? We had a player who had 3 of his 21 shots on target? Who was this artillery piece? Bamford seems to be taking the blame for everyone else's faults.
Would you be happy if he didn't score again this season and we had to rely on others to score? I said in an earlier post he works hard and plays well outside the box, in it, he's ****e
Really Milky. Can you mention where Ayling and Phillips were when the PNE player scored the goal. They were all in the PNE half, only White managed to get back. Have a look yourself..................were you watching last seasons highlights or something.
Phillips got drawn to the man - I think you can make a case that was a reasonable decision to pressure the ball carrier... or you could make a case he’d have been better off retreating. Both fullbacks were up the pitch as is the bielsa way. Berardi was the guy who got caught standing still on the wrong side of the guy he was marking, who just ran through unchallenged. white didn’t need to get back, he was already last man. I appreciate his name ends in an ‘I’ so he can do no wrong, but it was schoolboy defending from Berardi and clearly his fault.
For some perspective we drew against a team who are 5th and unbeaten at home this season. WBA scraped a draw at home to the bottom club, Wendies sneaked a home win against the team 2nd bottom and QPR drew at home with a team in the bottom 5. We’re missing several key players through injury; Cooper, Forshaw, Pablo, Shaks so have had to adapt our defence and midfield. I agree with a lot that has been said about starting Eddie etc but it isn’t too bad. Tonight was an above average night for us.
And here come the excuses. Only White and Berardi were back, Phillips and Ayling got caught to far forward and we got caught on the counter. In Berardis defence, it was a good pass from the PNE player down the wing. Maybe White should've stayed where he was, but I'm not going to criticise him cos he nearly stopped the cross however, it could've been a different story had he chose to mark the other player. Fact is, as portrayed by video evidence, both Phillips and Ayling got caught out cos they couldn't get back. Eff off with your nonsensical excuses. Always excuses, always excuses, always excuses.
Who would you play instead of Phillips? I’m one of those who thinks he is a key to how the team plays and the kid covers every blade of grass. He’s Leeds through and through and puts a shift in every time he plays so I don’t understand why you hate him so much. We don’t have anyone who is even close to doing the job he does
There has to be something in Harrisons loan deal that means we pay them about 10 million if he doesn't start. He has been our worst player every game this season, I would love to know how many attempted crosses he has had that have been intercepted or just generally terrible. You can blame Bamford for lack of goals okay, how many of Liverpools goals are scored by Firmino? How many goals have Harrison or Costa got? There is a lack of goals throughout the team. Really have to wonder how many matches in a row Bielsa starts the exact same team despite it clearly not working, in fact not even showing signs of working. When was the last time we scored a goal in the first half? Apart from two OGs we haven't scored in the first half since August, two goals this season in the first half , which has been almost the same starting team every week. Please just change something!!! Where is Jack Clarke?? So many questions, so many frustrations. The rest of this league are crap, at the minute we look crap too tho!
Look on the bright side. My mate is a Southend Utd supporter And Sol Campbell thought Macclesfield was a tough job
Just back from Preston haven't read through any of the posts but is there anyone out there still thinks bielsa is a genius. Think it's a case of the emperors new clothes with him. Bamford deary me couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. If bielsa starts him on Saturday he needs to pack his bags and **** off enough is enough.
I cannot possibly disagree with that. And Eddie is the opposite! But you were blaming Bamford for ALL of the shots. It's a disease the whole team has. I've already posted on the issue as I see it: * Eddie is an incomplete player. The bit that's lacking is the bit that Bamford does well. Very well. * Costa is also an incomplete player. He has pace. He crosses well. Other than that, he's poor. Can't tackle, defends poorly, doesn't fit (but is improving!). Both players are luxury players. With our style of play, we cannot accommodate 2 luxury players. We need at least 10 following the game plan 100%. I think Bielsa's plan has been to go with Costa first, hoping he'd improve his on his deficiencies, before introducing Eddie, & rounding him. Good plan if you think about it, especially as Bamford was on fire to start with. However, Bamford has gone dry, & I may be wrong, but I've only seen Costa make one half-hearted tackle. The plan has gone a bit tits up, as both Bamford & Costa are not playing the full part that was expected of them by now. The crisis point is now with us, or is not far away, imo. Bielsa has to decide what to do & has limited choices. Does he continue with Bamford & slot Eddie in somewhere, or does he drop Bamford & play Eddie instead? I think there's a wild card option - that Eddie will come in as the luxury player at Costa's expense, AND replace Bamford with Roberts. Kinda difficult to guess Bielsa though, isn't it?
I don't hate him Blono, but I can't see what impact he brings to team. He's the CM we are getting overrun in midfield, he gets caught out like a wandering nomad occasionally, he goes awol quite a bit, he's involved for some goals we've conceded, but some seem to think this team wouldn't function without him. He was clearly caught out for PNE's goal along with Ayling, but some always make excuses for him. What about the time our 30 million quid CM let the ball go through his legs, a gap no bigger than the ball, it lead to a goal, he can't read a game. Milky's first response, it was Berardi's fault, won't look where Phillips or Ayling are, just blame anyone other than Phillips. Phillips has been shown up this season in midfield, players just skip around him and run away from him. We're losing play and possession in midfield. Forshaw in my eyes is a better CM than Phillips, Bielsa moved Forshaw further forward which has been a good move so far. I could go on but I won't cos I don't want this turning into an argument with you.
His current tug-over is Forshaw, who - and you should know this! EVERYONE else does!! - would score 5 each match & do any defending required too. The fact that he's injured doesn't matter. Even if he was in a wheelchair he could do better than than KP. Sad, but probably closer to the truth than you think!
"Fact is, as portrayed by video evidence, both Phillips and Ayling got caught out cos they couldn't get back." Ridiculous, the Preston pass upfield was about 40 metres, Hussain Bolt couldn't have got back in time!! "There has to be something in Harrisons loan deal that means we pay them about 10 million if he doesn't start. He has been our worst player every game this season, I would love to know how many attempted crosses he has had that have been intercepted or just generally terrible." Did you miss his pass to Eddie for the goal?
