Morning all. Overcast, but dry. It was very wet yesterday and now the grass has grown again it will need wellies to go down the fields. Over dinner yesterday I was told that one of my friends had a chicken to bury after it fell off the perch so to speak, and although the top 15 cm of ground was damp enough to get a spade into, he finished up getting his pickaxe out to make a deep enough hole. On my way back from dinner we went through a small town that had signs up to say that despite the rain, water restrictions are still in place because the underground storage is still nearly empty. I am not sure how long it will take some areas to get back to normal. Have an enjoyable day whatever you must do.
Morning all. Chilly start to the day with a mist sitting in the valley. My water butts are filling up quite quickly, but unless we have another dry spell, and that looks unlikely, then I will not be needing to do much watering. Once again I seem to be catching up with some of the gardeners who have their vegetable plots all neat and tidy ready to over winter some crops. They must work in all weathers, while I prefer a decent degree of warmth on my back. Have a good day whatever you have planned.
Morning all. Very grey and wet in rural France today, and although we are supposed to be having sunny periods I haven't seen even a glimmer of sun yet. I have noticed in my travels that the council have started on the annual ditch clearing operation. At one time dozens of agricultural workers would be employed during the autumn and winter months doing the job, but today it is only a digger driver and a lorry driver to take away the soil needed. One neighbour makes lots of cheese and uses a very fine reed that grows in the ditches as a bed to lay the cheese on while it dries out. Soft, medium and mature are produced, and they are very tasty. Have a good day whatever you are doing.
Sunny morning here.. We are up tomorrow before dawn to get the red eye to limoges for a house closing weekend which will involve walks fires food and
Again from that excellent newspaper the DT I came across this article in the sports section. Oh bah the file is too large I will rescan Several rescans later
Today I have been saddened by the news about the 39 people who died in the container in Essex. However I am also worried about the reporting on TV. The police say that the driver has been arrested and charged with murder, and despite requests his name and picture have been shown. On my trips across the channel I quite often see a trailer without a traction unit being towed onto a ferry, and when it arrives in England it is towed off again and waits for a driver to come and pick it up. I don't know quite clearly what has happened in this case, but it does seem that this man could be little more than a driver who collects from a port, and then delivers it to a warehouse. If this is the case, and again I say I don't know, this man will be stigmatised with something he could be totally unaware of, and all in the cause of the media trying to get instant news to us.
My daughter has bought my wife and I tickets to see Elton John being interviewed by David Walliams next month in London. We didn't fancy it but it is a sell out so there will hopefully be a good chance of re-selling the tickets.
Good morning all from a cool and wet Weston-super-Mare! Off to hospital this morning to decide on my next course of treatment, hopefully the discoveries on my recent CT Scan won't rule out a course of intensive radiotherapy! Have a good day
Morning all. Sunshine, but breezy here with a top temperature only 19°C which is getting towards jumper weather. Hope that all goes well at the hospital Dave, and that you have arrived in one piece in France Yorkie. No mention of another plane shooting off the end of the runway at Limoges. I have to take my car for it's two yearly checkup at the test centre this morning. I don't think there is anything wrong with it, but they give you a couple of months to do anything they say must be done. Have a successful day all.
I will hear shortly from the Bristol BRI oncology department to set up a course of intensive radiotherapy for four weeks at five days per week (Monday to Friday).
