I think this has been posted before, more U turns than a corkscrew.

 

I think it said that it was due for debate today. I will see if I can find it.
I also noted that there might be an attempt to attach an amendment demanding a Customs Union, which the Tories will probably reject but there might be enough Tory MPs, that want to Remain or a softer Brexit, who could support it.
Personally that AND the Single Market for me, but even that wouldn’t be as good as what we already have as we wouldn’t be able to shape law changes.

 

I agree, but having a Customs Union and alignment with the Single Market in the deal as a worst case scenario in a referendum would be better than the deal as it stands, and a million miles better than no deal.

Right, yes I did see that but skimmed over it. That is appalling, what a disgusting place England is becoming. I say “England” because this whole shoddy business is being driven by a bunch of racist English Nationalists who have taken over the Tory Party. We will be on our own in a few years time, as the other nations of these islands leave the crumbling UK.

 

So if this comes to fruition, do those affected have to give up running a business that they may have been running for years?
Do they have to lay off staff, forcing more people into unemployment/debt/homelessness?
If they are tradesmen, do they continue to ply their trade, but now as part of the black economy, declaring or paying no tax or National Insurance?

When you consider how many of our utilities and train franchises are foreign owned, what will be achieved by following such a xenophobic approach, unless the Tories plan to renationalise them!

 

Keir Starmer looks rightly pissed off, here. It really is time that the polite pretence was dropped and the words “lie and liar” used, if only for the media attention, as this video will not be widely seen by Tory supporters.

It's clearly the correct decision. Voting twice in a matter of days on the same thing is clearly against convention and pointless.

Its amazing and depressing how many people eat this **** up.

 

After listening to that forensic dissection of Johnson’s deal, how can anyone purporting to be a Labour MP still intend to vote for it? The likes of Caroline Flint and Melanie Onn should hang their heads in shame.

 

Sadly Kier Starmer has no chance of succeeding Corbyn. The Momentum boys and girls have already decided that after Corbyn has dealt the death blow to Labour Rebecca Long Bailey will have the honour of delivering the coup de grace.

 

Interesting funding development at Cornwall's Eden Project. They have secured funding to drill for... heat. [similar to the centre of Southampton]

Cornwall’s Eden Project and EGS Energy announced last week that they secured £16.8 million in funding to drill the first well for their pioneering geothermal heat and power project next summer. Eden Project‘s cofounder Sir Tim Smit said:
"Since we began, Eden has had a dream that the world should be powered by renewable energy… We believe the answer lies beneath our feet in the heat underground that can be accessed by drilling technology that pumps water towards the centre of the earth and brings it back up superheated to provide us with heat and electricity."

Geothermal will be a game changer for Eden, Cornwall. The heat will be used for the Biomes, to grow food, as well as helping support the development of our long-awaited hotel.
Once up and running, our plant will provide more than enough renewable electricity and heat for the whole site, as well as for the local area. We will be drilling for good energy rather than bad. [he means fossil fuels when he refers to “bad.”]

Equally interesting is the source of the funding. Cornwall’s final round of EU funding, the European Regional Development Fund, has contributed £9.9 million. Cornwall Council has contributed £1.4 million. Institutional investors have given £5.5 million. The money will pay for the project’s first phase.
This is the kind of cooperation you can obtain when you are part of a bigger community.

Sadly it looks as if Brexit is going to be passed this week with Labour votes. Those who are going to enable Pfeffel to finally get his way are a couple of handfuls of MP's who are under the impression that they are doing the right thing by their constituents, they are sadly mistaken. We will now have a General Election in which they have handed this rotten government a useful tool with which to beat 95% of the population.

 

the withdrawal agreement bill is really hard to follow because it mostly just references and modifies May's withdrawal act 2018 to keep EU law during the implementation period
one thing i noticed is that is specifically adds a clause saying that we can extend the implementation period, so expect to be going through this all over again in 2 years time when The PM still cant come up with a good deal.
