I've 'celebrated' plenty of goals in my time that have then been disallowed ... most often because of a raised lino's flag ... I lived and was not in need of counselling... VAR should not be any different ... anybody who can't see that is a spunk splat ... you are welcome <cheers>

Generally speaking, I think that var is more popular among tv fans and/or perfectionists, whereas those against are the match going fans and/or purists.

It ultimately comes down to what sort of game we want.

Do we want a game where all the drama revolves around technology, fans are constantly calling for video reviews, and the best moments revolve around waiting some words to appear on a screen?

Or do we want a game where you go along on a Saturday afternoon, sing 'the referees a ****er', and have that sheer burst of adrenaline and joy the moment the ball hits the back of the net?

    No brainer for me.

I don't think it's the same mate tbh. The difference now is that because they review every goal that effectively, no goal is a goal until it's recieved the var rubber stamp.

It might not affect you personally in that way but that doesn't mean it's not a genuine concern for a lot of fans.

I assumed you wanted him to throw three in and have a mental breakdown in the six yard box. Thanks for clarifying.

They should go back to the old offside rule imo. If one's off they're all off. None of this 2nd phase ****.

Yeah in my book if you're on the pitch then you're interfering with play. All this other **** just adds another layer of subjectiveness.

It is different, I concede ... but am still in favour if it is used as originally intended ... all the issues are down to human incompetence ... not the technology itself ... it can't change what has actually occurred <cheers>

VAR is the same as the Leave vote, it’s gonna hurt a lot of people and many people will kill themselves because they can’t handle the decision, but ultimately, it’ll be great. Trust a brother.

VAR is ****. It kills the atmosphere and it doesn't even fix the problems it sets out to address, as it's just another layer of subjectivity.

One suggestion Mark Chapman made on MOTD which was quite good though, was instead of the video ref making the decision, let the on pitch ref see the replay and then allow him to make the final decision. A bit like the system they had at the world cup. That would make it better, but you'd still have the ref walking off the pitch to have to view the TV and more delays.

Probs just best to admit it's a crock of **** and bin it off <ok>

Goal line technology is great, no problem with that
Offsides needs tweaking, they have to give the benefit of the doubt to the attacker if he's not half a body off side. You can't flag him off for a shoulder or knee in front
Fouls? **** it, leave it to the ref. If VAR isn't going to change anything then you might as well not use it.
If someone twats someone off the ball or the ref is going to send the wrong player off then VAR should intervene.

Otherwise bin the pile of **** off...

The reason it’s not sorting out the exact issues it was brought in to solve, is down to the intransigence of our officials. The VAR refs are seemingly applying the Peter Walton approach to reviewing decisions and aren’t either over ruling their on field colleagues, or advising them to go and check the pitchside screens (which are there btw)

We had one on Saturday. A corner that was headed in by Mina, but the ref somehow gave a foul for something literally no one else saw, probably because it never ****ing happened. It didn’t go to VAR and the perfectly good goal was ruled out, it was yet another shocker from a weekend of VAR **** ups.

I thought it worked quite well in the CL last season, it's just the premier league have really ****ed up how to implement it.

Definitely should give the attacker a sliver of daylight advantage on off side, no idea why they stopped giving the attack the benefit of the doubt. This would immediately do away with the part of his left bollock is off side nonsense. They should also let the ref review in a monitor, baffling that they wouldn't as this is what worked well in the CL.

Watching championship football, it is definitely better not having it. The decision is what it is, no long pauses or ****ing about. Refs make mistakes, that's football.

Saying that, Swansea were robbed in the FA cup against City last season.
City's pen wasn't (not that I'd trust any VAR stooge to dare overturn it) and another of their's was off side.
Which VAR would have had to overturn.

In that match, kind of wish VAR was there.
