EPL (Premier League), Monday 16/09/2019 : Aston Villa v West Ham United, KO 20:00 hours, SKY. 11/09/2019 : For AVFC the international ennui will be protracted even further, due to SKY shunting our fixture to Monday night. One benefit of Mings and Heaton not playing for England is that neither are crocked. John McGinn survived intact too. My AVF prediction, made today : Aston Villa 2-1 West Ham United
EPL (Premier League), Monday 16/09/2019 : Aston Villa 0-0 West Ham United Nothing to report on this game. At least we did not lose and rise to 17th. Arsenal away next Sunday. Attendance : 42,010 (SSN)
EPL (Premier League), Sunday 22/09/2019 : Arsenal v Aston Villa, KO 16:30 hours. 17/09/2019 : We are playing on Sunday due to Arsenal being in the Europa League. As ever I hope to see a win for AVFC, but will in this instance go for a draw ... thinking of Queen Victoria and the Crimean War. please log in to view this image My AVF prediction, made today : Arsenal 1-1 Aston Villa
EPL (Premier League), Sunday 22/09/2019 : Arsenal 3-2 Aston Villa After an excellent start, 2nd half Game mis-management today has led to another defeat, drawn from the jaws of victory. Attendance : 60,331 (SSN) After this result AVFC's total Form Points fell from 30 to 25 ... that is, points after 38 games. The maximum available is now 100 points, with 96 points left to play for. AVFC are below par and 18th in the table, with 4 points and GD at -3 from 6 games.
I would have scored many more Prediction League points if I did (!) ... but I never predict against AVFC. League Cup Round 3, Wednesday 25/09/2019 : Brighton and Hove Albion v Aston Villa, KO 19:45 hours. 23/09/2019 : This will be AVFC's fourth journey south this Season, so far it is played 3, lost 3 ... 4th time lucky ? My AVF prediction, made today : Brighton and Hove Albion 2-2 Aston Villa
League Cup Round 3, Wednesday 25/09/2019 : Brighton and Hove Albion 1-3 Aston Villa I predict a draw and we win ... no complaints. We have Wolves in the next round, what should I predict ? please log in to view this image Attendance : 14,982 (SSN)
EPL (Premier League), Saturday 28/09/2019 : Aston Villa v Burnley, KO 15:00 hours. 26/09/2019 : I hope Saturday will see AVFC carry on from the win at Brighton with another ... we certainly need to ! My AVF prediction, made today : Aston Villa 3-1 Burnley
EPL (Premier League), Saturday 28/09/2019 : Aston Villa 2-2 Burnley I was multi-following the games today, my Twitter feed plus SSN, TV and website. Was this 2 points dropped or a fair result (?) ... to concede after just regaining the lead was careless. Attendance : 41,546 (SSN)
EPL (Premier League), Saturday 28/09/2019 : Aston Villa 2-2 Burnley 29/09/2019 : After this result AVFC's total Form Points rose from 25 to 27 ... that is, points after 38 games. The maximum available is now 98 points, with 93 points left to play for. AVFC are below par and 18th in the table, with 5 points and GD at -3 from 7 games. We could have dropped to 19th if Newcastle had drawn today, but they got thumped 0-5 at Leicester. Villa under Dean Smith score goals but lose the lead ... under Steve Bruce we were lucky to score at all !
EPL (Premier League), Saturday 05/10/2019 : Norwich City v Aston Villa, KO 15:00 hours. 29/09/2019 : AVFC are 18th and Norwich are one place and one point above us. A victory is really needed on Saturday to go above them and I have done my bit to that end, by predicting a draw ! My AVF prediction, made today : Norwich City 2-2 Aston Villa
Welcome to Carrow Rd on Sat. Unfortunately I will miss this one as I will be in Portugal. We have loads of injuries, but if we play as we did in our previous 3 home games ,a draw is the least I expect.
I hoped my predicting a draw would yield a win, Bure, but I did not expect this ! EPL (Premier League), Saturday 05/10/2019 : Norwich City 1-5 Aston Villa This excellent result should have been 6-0 rather than 5-1 ... a saved penalty with the follow-up missed and a gifted consolation goal to Norwich ... but I am not complaining. Let this be the first of many results like this. please log in to view this image Attendance : 27,045 (SSN)
EPL (Premier League), Saturday 05/10/2019 : Norwich City 1-5 Aston Villa 06/10/2019 : Once again I have had to wait to see how the Sunday games would affect AVFC before preparing my analysis. Our superb win yesterday has boosted AVFC's Form Points substantially. After this result AVFC's total Form Points rose from 27 to 38 ... that is, points after 38 games. The maximum available is still 98 points, with 90 points left to play for. AVFC are below par and 15th in the table, with 8 points and GD at +1 from 8 games. We now have to wait until Saturday 19/10/2019, KO 15:00 hours for our next game, Home to Brighton.
EPL (Premier League), Saturday 19/10/2019 : Aston Villa v Brighton and Hove Albion, KO 15:00 hours. 06/10/2019 : Although my prediction of a draw saw AVFC return a convincing win against Norwich, I am not going to fall into a superstition trap. I reckon AVFC will follow up the win at Norwich with another win when life resumes in a fortnight's time, hence my prediction below. My AVF prediction, made today : Aston Villa 2-1 Brighton and Hove Albion
17/10/2019 : More AVFC matches moved today, most for for TV, this is the full list. Sat 26/10/2019 : Manchester City 12:30 Aston Villa - BT Sport Sun 10/11/2019 : Wolverhampton Wanderers 14:00 Aston Villa - Wolves in Europa League & SKY Mon 25/11/2019 : Aston Villa 20:00 Newcastle - SKY Sun 01/12/2019 : Manchester United 16:30 Aston Villa - Man United in Europa League Wed 04/12/2019 : Chelsea 19:30 Aston Villa - Amazon Prime Sun 08/12/2019 : Aston Villa 14:00 Leicester City - SKY Thu 26/12/2019 : Aston Villa 15:00 Norwich City - Amazon Prime Wed 01/01/2020 : Burnley 12:30 Aston Villa - BT Sport Sun 12/01/2020 : Aston Villa 16:30 Manchester City - SKY Tue 21/01/2020 : Aston Villa 19:30 Watford - KO time changed
EPL (Premier League), Saturday 19/10/2019 : Aston Villa 2-1 Brighton and Hove Albion Another multi-tasking day for me, Parliament on the TV until 16:30 (!) with our game via SSN and my Twitter feed. Well, better late than never (I mean our game, not Brexit, still playing there !) with a last minute winner from Matt Targett after Jack Grealish equalised Brighton's opener. Due to VAR Hourihane's earlier equaliser had been disallowed. This 2-1 win means 3 points for AVFC and for me 10 points in the AVF Prediction League ... Hooray ! Attendance : 41,826 (SSN) Our win today lifted AVFC to 11th and dramatically lifted AVFC's Form Points too. Only wins for Man United and Sheff Utd could see AVFC drop, but they are playing Liverpool and Arsenal respectively and I anticipate AVFC will still be 11th after Monday night. After this result AVFC's total Form Points rose from 38 to 46 ... that is, points after 38 games. The maximum available is still 98 points, with 87 points left to play for. AVFC are below par and 11th in the table, with 11 points and GD at +2 from 9 games. Update 21/10/2019 : AVFC slipped to 12th tonight after : Sheff Utd 1-0 Arsenal ... I don't begrudge the Blades that victory.
EPL (Premier League), Saturday 26/10/2019 : Manchester City v Aston Villa, KO 12:30 hours, BT Sport 1. 21/10/2019 : AVFC visit the team nicknamed 'the Blue Moon' on Saturday. Rather than a 'Blue Moon', I consider them to be a Black Hole, using the State Aid received via their Sheikh to suck in the best players from other clubs and thereby skew the competitive nature of league football to their ongoing advantage. My AVF prediction, made today : Manchester City 2-2 Aston Villa
EPL (Premier League), Saturday 26/10/2019 : Manchester City 3-0 Aston Villa AVFC were too defensive in the 1st half, by which I mean not pressing our attacking options but reverting to SB tactics, passing square and back and with no effective presence up front. We gifted a stupid goal to MC at the start of the 2nd half, their 2nd goal was 'one of those' and went to VAR, only their 3rd goal was a good one, coming out of the confusion generated by a powerful cross-goal pass. Beaten but not disgraced, I think we could have got more out of this game if we had taken the game to MC and not sat back, which just invited their pressure. Attendance : 54,506 (SSN)
