Makes me question the wisdom of taking the International break again.

Has Doz touched the ball ?the midfield apart from Skues is non existent, Edwards is anonymous, N siala is terrible coupled to an absence of drive and passion, it's like turning the clock back 12 months.

Nsiala has to come off, ****ing liability. Stick Donacien on at rb.
Take dozy off for Huws. And judge off for Keane. Go 433, jacko on the left, Edwards on right of Keane up top

Too many poor performances, not enough quality and shows the dangers of trying to play with one up front.

Hopefully we can move on from this and string together another unbeaten run.

Mark of a good team is to see how they respond. Hopefully a better performance on Wednesday to get us back to winning ways.

And i tell you what, as much as I've defended him over the last couple of years, I hope Dozzell never plays for this club again. Doesnt score, doesnt create, and has no desire what so ever, complete waste of space.
If he thinks he's too good for us, then fine, **** off to someone that wants you...

Can't argue with any of that stretchy, I think what it does tell us is we have one team and when that team is badly effected by injuries the side can't perform, we have quantity but little quality outside of the usual starting 11, Dozzell and Judge are useless liabilities who either can't or won't perform at this lowly level and should be moved on as soon as possible, NSiala looked outclassed, Edwards the usual dross, Nolan at least tried but poor.
The best team won today but hopefully PL has seen enough to know that this performance is unacceptable despite the injury list and can rectify the problem with a sort out of who wants to stay and who doesn't.

I think a 'performance' like this has been coming for a while. It's why there's still been a persistent lingering doubt about the squad and manager from many of us, myself included. it's been shown now that we can't just turn up, how we react will be telling.

Wr have a depth of a squad, and players can cover when injured etc, but not wholesale changes. Keane can cover Norwood, Huws can cover Nolan/Skuse/Downes. But you cant put all these players in at once, they've hardly played, and are not match fit / lacking in confidence.
Listen, its one bad game..we are still top with a game in hand. Hopefully it's a wake up call and PL doesnt start resting players just to keep everyone sweet. Always play your best 11....and only swap when necessary

Today proved without a doubt that Jackson cannot play up front on his own. This was mentioned a number of times last season but today proved it for me. Dozzell is too lightweight to play in away games and I’ve no idea what’s happened to Judge. Positives are we are still top and hopefully we won’t have that many players have an off day as they did today. Midweek against Rotherham is an important game

Wilson should be back which is a plus and if KVY, DOWNES, and possibly Norwood are back then that would be our strongest starting eleven.

I think Dozzell has been inept for at least three years now since his early promise faded. Judge since he signed a permanent contract.

I think for the rest of them though it’s not fair to single out individuals because it was an absolute **** show from back to front and nobody comes out with any credit. First half they were asleep and second half it was a hackathon.

For me, a big factor was definitely missing the match last week rather than missing the likes of KVY and Norwood. We are not going to win this league without a bit of depth to the squad. Whether we have a good run now or fade a bit Marcus needs to back Lambert in January.

The side today looked unbalanced from the off and was a performance which was very reminiscent to last season. Whilst it's certainly not the end of the world I think it highlights that our squad isn't as good as most people think. The quality is there but experience and match fitness/durability is missing and with a few injuries we really come up short. I don't blame the manager at all for this it's just highlights that our squad isn't as good as we think and also highlights how well we've done so far. We have some talented players but in the main our squad is made up of inexperienced youngsters, players who have been injured for long periods of time and players with very limited experience in this league or above.

This was about as bad as I've seen us. Holy didn't look confident coming for crosses which he's done all season. Toto looked awful, very surprised at saying this but can't wait for the calm influence of Wilson to come back in (sign him up), I actually think Toto on his day is a very good defender he's just so rash and has got a big mistake in him, he also really doesn't look comfortable in a back 3. The defending from crosses was awful today.

Then the rest of the team was so unbalanced, I was surprised Huws and Keane didn't start this must show Lambert doesn't trust they can cope with the rigours of league football which is concerning because he really lacked options to change it up today. We had too many play makers in midfield and a player upfront who looks pants without a target man to play with. We lacked any real physical presence from the back 3 upwards, so couldn't even really threaten from set pieces.

This game certainly is not a huge cause for concern but highlights to me what I've thought all season, that we're only a couple of injuries away from having a tough time. We're going to need some help in January, can't rely on our injured players to come back and play well week in week out

I think you're right that the lack of defensive cover wide allowed them to run riot on the wings and it was that that put us under constant pressure but I still don't understand the cause of the lethargy unless we attribute that to Dozzell.

Just watched the replay after the long drive home from Vegas.

Lambert got it all wrong today, I had a bad feeling about the game as soon as I saw the line-up. Too many midfielders in various positions and nobody to hold the ball up, which we really needed because yet again our default strategy was lump it long, especially after going two goals down. Accrington had some very tall players in their back line but we failed to change our approach even though the balls forward were being dealt with easily by the Stanley defenders.
We missed Downes, KVY, Norwood and Wilson today as each one would've added more to the team than their replacements

Holy - not as good today, nearly got himself into trouble a couple of times trying to be Ederson and play out of tight spots. His kicking went out of play a lot again and he doesn't add much to springing a quick counter attack.
Garbutt - pretty solid without being outstanding.
Toto - poor, did some good work at times but equally had some terrible moments. Doesn't look comfortable defending in the wide areas at all. Surely a back up to the other three.
Chambers - I though he had a great game. Got a nasty gash above the eye early in the first half and you could see the blood trickling down the side of his face at full time. Got some timely interceptions and blocks in.
Woolf - not too bad, didn't do much of note really but tried to help out in attack when possible
Edwards - did alright defensively for the most part, I thought it was Woolf who was more at fault for losing his man for the goal as Edwards was caught in the middle of two Stanley players. Going forward though, as a winger, full back or whatever, he is just not good enough with the final delivery.
Skuse - another good performance from him. I feel as though he missed having Downes in there with him because Dozzell didn't help out enough.
Dozzell - crap again, no desire or effort to close down or do the dirty stuff. Doesn't have the strength to hold a player off so he's only really effective when in space, which isn't often in league one.
Nolan - meh, tried to make things happen but nothing clicked for him.
Judge - I'll say it yet again, we're worse with him in the team. The cynic in me wants to say he's playing badly just to get a move away, the realist in me says he's just crap.
Jackson - as already mentioned by others, should not be played as a lone striker but did his best.

Dobra - bright again but got sent off for what looked on the replays to be a punch in the back of the head of Sykes. It may have been accidental but I think this is what led to Sykes shoving Dobra to the ground
Rowe - added some drive to the play but made poor decisions at crucial times. I'd still play him at RW before Edwards though.
Georgiou - brought some trickery to the game but couldn't make any decisive plays.

All in all - I though Lambert got the first eleven wrong today and because of it most players had a bad game.
The four that missed out today would have made a huge difference to the team. KVY is so much better than Edwards on the right and Downes is streets ahead of Dozzell as a robust midfielder. Norwood would've made more difference up front and Wilson would've made more difference in defence.

Not sure taking the international break was a good idea this time as Lambert chose a side that, Judge and Georgiou aside, he could've fielded anyway.

Good post SD. I'm sure we all thought Huws and Keane were going to start ahead of Dozzell and Judge but think this shows Lambert does not trust they are up to the rigours of the league yet. This highlights our squad is actually not that strong if we get a couple of injuries particularly upfront. We do have talent but lack players with experience or players who are fitness wise able to play week in week out.

We need a CB and a striker in January

In a way I think it justified Lambert requesting the international break because we need everyone fit and available (particularly Norwood)

It was all about the starting XI choices, you're absolutely right. The simple fact is that if Jackson is out wide with the ball you want Norwood or Keane in that box for him to pick out and Edwards is not a defender and not a wing back - he's most effective in the final third. Dozzell is powderpuff and all these things combined meant that after ten minutes or so we were on the back foot and panic seemed to spread through the whole side.

Credit to Accrington - they were up for it and pressed us high, putting us under pressure for long spells. When we cleared the ball, the defence were incredibly slow to move the line up, which meant when the ball came back there were still numbers for them in the 18 yard box.

It's all about how react to this now.

Hard to add anything that hasn’t been covered above chaps, great comments. I agree that it was a frustrating performance, easily the worst of the season so far, and a poor result against a side that is struggling against the drop this season. What’s worse is that display was shown across the country on television where once again we’ve embarrassed ourselves. There were very little plus points about that display. But this has been a long time coming. How many games have we edged results this season and how many times have we commented on the lack of identity and on-pitch style of play this season?

First up, we missed three of our best players. That’s unfortunate. If we had KVY, Wilson, Downes, and Norwood starting, would we have lost? Maybe not, because their replacements – Edwards, Nsiala, Dozzell, and Judge all played badly. They were pathetic. If we could’ve subbed all four from the team at half-time, I’d like to think Lambert would have done so. Lambert’s whole approach was wrong. Accrington Stanley players bullied us on the pitch and closed down our defenders and midfielders whenever we got the ball, which led to repeated passes backwards. Holy’s distribution was also poor. We just didn’t wise up to it. We resorted, once again, to aimless long balls into the channels and created nothing from doing that. We had a couple of near chances cleared off the line, but that was just a poor game.

Spot on. A few deficiencies were exposed:
    - A back three that hasn't been tested too much put under pressure with no-one (Chambers) captaining the defence.
    - Our midfield six was an absolute omnishambles. 3-6-1 is a ridiculous formation.
    - Threadbare striking options in the squad.
