Even if we salvage something from this game, Warnock seems to have lost his zing to me...stale as Aber’s underpants!
The very very poor ref decision for the goal, both the free kick and Flint’s actions were a bad mistake by the officials, can’t mask a very very lame home performance.
70 mins for the first shot on goal, there has to be a change and I think no I know, it must be the management, they have no idea how to set up a team also no plan b.and why isn't tomlin first on the team sheet ,he is the only one that can win games.just saying.
We improved when Ward came on and had been much better in the second half but Tomlin became Plan B. The ball was moved around more quickly and with much more purpose. We could have won it with Whyte's shot near the end. Great save by their keeper. Tomlin has to play at Millwall and then wrap him in cotton wool until we play Swansea. I have supported the continued inclusion of Glatzel - until now. He was a big boy lost tonight. Ward brought much more energy and effort and also has to start at Millwall.
The ref missed a stonewall penalty for a foul on Flint but bought Tomlin’s free kick and shouldn’t have let Flint get away with that. So that evens it up. Both sides hit the woodwork. SWed best team first half but City much the better second half with Murphy missing a decent chance and Whyte foiled late on. Again no creativity and pace and quality crosses until thankfully Warnock saw sense and brought on Tomlin who turned the game. He is a footballer. He makes things happen. He must play more. Just a pity he didn’t bring him on a lot earlier but don’t get why SWed took off Bannen for a striker; no wonder Tomlin came on to expose the more open midfield.
When Tomlin plays like that he is absolutely top draw, but you just don’t get enough games like that from him. You don’t want to be 1-0 down with 20 mins to go just to get him motivated to play well.
Monk clearly over thought things last night. His team were startingto get drawn into a physical battle and he made the awful decision to bring Bannon off who was the best player on the pitch. At a similar time we withdrew the out of his depth Glatzel and a completely out of form NML. Pack and Ralls looked different players Murphy started to get more into the game and Tomlin and Whyte looked dangerous. Another 5 minutes and daylight robbery would be complete. NML needs a few games in the u/23s he s out of sorts. Glatzel sadly looks completely out of his depth at this level. Needs to be taken out of the squad.
Warnock does not help by chopping and changing his 4 wingers rather than give them a run of games. NML was an absolute passenger last night like he was at Reading. Don’t know what to say about Glatzel. Warnock spent big on him and expected no doubt he’d be up to 7-8 goals by now.
Beginning to agree about Glatzel. In all honesty, he's been little or no better effectively than Madine. Has more skill but no end product. Could be a confidence thing but I suspect it's as much to do with his unsuitability to the Championship, particularly Warnock's CCFC - in other words he's at the wrong club. Defo something wrong with NML. At least Whyte has a go and will get better - I doubt NML will.
NML can do better. Hes a hot or cold player. He can be a match winner. Hes out of any sort of form. Id say Madine is a far better option than Glatzel. Ward or Bogle to start though.
With Ward and Bogle already at the club before both of them, I make that another £12M or so wasted then.
Small potatoes when you consider we probably wasted another couple of million on their wages as well as the transfer fees? ........and what's worse, they're still being paid.
Need them both to be fit though, and Vassell. Good to see Ward looking strong last night. As for Madine...... Probably comparable with Eddie Johnson and Gonzo although they had some movement. Madine doesn't, he's just a useless f'ing lamp post with no bulb.
