I agree they’d want someone who knows the game over here to do that, but I still don’t think Donald is that person. The footballing decisions that have been made have been poor and I’m not sure what the difference would be under him even with the new people on board.

    He may improve.
I imagine his er, 'incentive to improve' has grew a bit lately.

It does make sense. I just don't think we've seen SD prove he's the right fella.

I don’t disagree with that, but he’s evidently had enough about him to keep their interest.

I’m sure they can use what he has and guide him along. If there’s a budget there then we will likely go the DOF route on the footballing side.

They’ve done a relatively job business wise and financially.

He may not be the right man, time will tell, but as they increase investment then they will decide if he remains.

    true :D

As long as msd can legally remove him if he isn't the right person, it doesn't matter. If he fails, he fails. The problem would only be if they can't.

I think we need to keep our feet firmly on the floor. They'll be bumps along the way and it'll take time to build. Steady heads required.

Can we go back to our old name the Bank Of England and will we wrap up our 7th title by 2025?

I mean, I am, but there’s still nowt done and dusted.

Yep and we’re a big club in a small league at present. And a pl club would cost a massive amount investment wise!
Wondering how Donald is looking on the fans eyes now? He seems to have played this well and looks good to me.

Think that's a bit much, personally. I was a bit hasty calling him an utter **** (it was a emotional day <laugh>) but I don't think he's suddenly a Saint.

For all we know, he's caused the delays with the takeover through being a tight-arse, and we could have been sat here by now with multi-billionaire owners and a Stendel (or better) as manager.

No matter how this all plays out, nobody will convince me Parkinson wasn't a penny-pinching appointment. The thing that got him the job was the fact he got Bolton promoted with zero funds, and Stewy's hoping he can do the same here. I'm utterly convinced. There were other managers available with far better records, who have had teams playing much better football, and won promotion from this league more recently - but noone else did it without spending any money and I'm convinced that is what SD has homed in on.

I get all that, and I’ve got involved in the skating at points as well.

What if his legacy is leaving us in the hands of thee guys though? That’s something.

But we don’t know any of that is true do we? In the same way as we don’t know that he has done things with the best interests of the club at heart, do we?

The takeover talk does seem to have moved aside and been replaced by investment which is a lot more vague.

Oh aye, if this goes ahead I won't slate the bloke, he's not done badly by us all-in-all. I just won't be getting carried away either. If you believe a lot of the rumours then the hold-ups have been caused at least in part by him trying to squeeze more money out of it, and it's possible he nearly ****ed the whole thing up single-handedly. But it could all be bollocks, he might have been jumping through hoops just to keep the deal alive and this is the best outcome he could possibly have achieved.

I'd guess the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. He seems like a decent enough bloke, but he's a businessman at the end of the day and we're an investment, can't begrudge him trying to make a bit of cash.

For me, he'll probably just go down as another "meh" owner. Here's hoping the Dellboys can finally get us on that fabled magic carpet we heard about so long ago, ha.

No more than you wish to make of it and I must add that I find your distinction more than a little concerning, given that in 11 years you've managed only a few more than 7700 posts.

I agree with the first part, but I don't understand why the number of posts is relevant . . . . Saffy has been a respected member on here for many years and his posts are as valued as yours or mine :emoticon-0105-wink:

I think having SD running the day to of the club as a whole with its offshoots like the AOL, but I think a director of football would a good appointment, someone who has ties to football clubs, agents and knows how stuff works, to aid in making actual football decisions with the manager
