If there is a deal the antidemocrats will make sure this weekend there's a 'confirmatory' vote amendment.
This will go on and on.

Looks like a deal is now on. More to follow in the next hour or so.

I bet on Saturday parliament will still reject it just to force Boris to seek an extension, to see if he will do it or not. All political games!

there is an interesting scenario embroiled in all this ….somewhere!
my understanding of "law, political law etc etc " is quite basic, however ……………. Boris has to go back to the EU if he does not get a deal.
    ok that is simple
Boris has to go back to the EU if he does not get a deal, [ but he does & the peeps that forced it on him wont it accept it ] I GUESS THAT DEPENDS ON THE EXACT WORDING OF THE PROPOSAL and resultant summing up of the panel of judges as to what they accepted should happen!

I didn't follow it that closely, BUT the action for Boris must surely be based on " if he does not get a deal acceptable to the majority of parliament … win / lose by 1
SIMPLY if it said if he comes back without a deal he must ask for an extension, then he does then doesn't need to ask!
Alternative .. .. .. maybe he gets a deal, gets voted down [ and the voting down has already been widely stated by various parties no matter what we don't want to leave so tough sh** etc ] then he goes back to the court who have now implicated their "juristriction in matters that a lot of other lawyers stated they shouldn't get mixed up in" and opens a case or asks for divine advice!
this would then be a case of say presenting an action on WEDNESDAY / THURSDAY 23rd /24th the 11 judges would then have to re convene and both sides would have to present their arguments which could take 2 or 3 days [ 26TH/27TH ] then they would need to have to have 1 or 2 days [ 28th / 29th ] or so to present the result ….. then Boris would have to send the letter to EU 1 DAY 30th which would force the EU TO MAKE A HASTY DECISION ON THE 31ST … so would they .

Can’t see this happening, Boris will ensure he has the numbers before bringing back a deal, he’s involving the factions who’s votes are needed to get a deal through Parliament, if he can’t get the numbers he won’t bring the deal back, then things will get interesting with the various factions trying to force through their own views, that’s when a ‘confirmatory ‘ vote main gain traction. But who really knows , anyone who suggest they know how things will go is delusional.

Seems that way. It was a BBC source funnily enough who said early that it looks like its deal on. Now they think tomorrow!

Can’t see it myself , Unless it’s driven by the EU, ie if they refuse to allow us an extension and can’t see it being at that point yet , if we keep this up too much longer that may change.

Sorry Wiz Misunderstood your post, thought you were saying now no deal , now realise you meant no deal tonight ,

I reckon Boris will go for an extension but only seek a month max just to iron out this deal to make sure it aint rushed. The EU would appreciate that and it will all the surrender bill to be implemented without it actually doing any damage that Labour and co would want.

not suggesting, making a point or 2
to help you has to go back to EU if he has no deal simple [as stated ]cant make that more clearer

next bit, above, checked with my 13year old GD doing her home work as is a dancer and got back at 1030 she understands that so no point saying any more …

I didn't follow it that closely, BUT the action for Boris must surely be based on " if he does not get a deal acceptable to the majority of parliament … win / lose by 1
as stated didn't follow it that closely so what was the wording did it acceptable?

SIMPLY if it said if he comes back without a deal he must ask for an extension, then he does get a deal then doesn't need to ask! GD understands that bit..

alternative is a surmision of what might/could be an action to do as means of getting round Benn act "everyone knows" BORIS SAYS LEAVING ON 31st .. BUT how?

I don’t think he will get around it , or possibly even try , it’s all bluff , he wanted everyone, particularly the EU to think he will , to pressure them to concentrate minds to come to a deal, he’s been successful to a point , had there not been the Benn/Surrender deal hindering him I think he could have had even more leverage to force a deal out of the EU.
I can’t see us actually leaving at the end of Oct , we may , just may, have an agreement to reach an agreement , but not an actual agreement , in time.

The way I understand it he has to ask for an extension if he can’t get a deal through Parliament by Sat , so if he puts a deal before Parliament which is voted down he has to ask the EU for an extension, there is a pre determined letter attached to the bill that he has to send in which they can chose the length of the extension, he has no choice over the text of the letter he has to send,

The first part of his comment. If Boris brings back a deal from the EU does that mean he doesn't need to seek an extension? Although JGF wasn't sure if that was correct or not, I still found it an interesting point <ok>
