    Barnsley v Swansea City

    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Venue - Oakwell
    Kick off - 3pm
    Date - 19 October 2019

Following their disappointing home defeat at the hands of bottom club Stoke City, next up for Steve Cooper’s Swans is a visit to Barnsley.

Against Stoke, he Swans were ahead inside a minute when Andre Ayew tapped home a rebound.

Former Swans midfielder Sam Clucas levelled for the Potters midway through the first half, firing home after keeper Freddie Woodman parried Joe Allen's effort.

Stoke won it in the final moments when substitute Scott Hogan tapped home from close range.

As a result, Swansea slipped to fourth while Stoke remained bottom, but closed the gap on their relegation rivals.

Whilst the Swans were losing to Stoke, Barnsley were being crushed 5-1 away at Preston. Daniel Johnson scored twice as Preston moved up to third in the Championship.

Johnson headed Alex Neil's side in front as they dominated the opening half, only for Cameron McGeehan to grab an equaliser following a corner.

Tom Barkhuizen coolly restored the lead from Johnson's pass, and the latter made it three after Paul Gallagher's ball left him one-on-one with goalkeeper Brad Collins.

Barnsley's inexperienced defence was exposed again as Ben Pearson scored only his second goal in 126 Preston appearances and sub Josh Harrop lobbed the fifth to underline their superiority.

As a result, Barnsley dropped to next to bottom of the Championship.

3 days after the loss at Preston, Barnsley parted company with head coach Daniel Stendel following a run of 10 Championship games without a win.

Adam Murray has been appointed caretaker manager with the club currently second from bottom.

Barnsley have not won since beating Fulham 1-0 at home on the opening day of the season.

Arguably the most memorable previous meeting between the 2 sides came at the Millennium Stadium in the League One Play-Off Final in 2006 when Barnsley ran out victorious

Turning to Saturday, this is an opportunity for Cooper and the squad to get the ‘show back on the road’ against a team lacking in confidence. That said, the Swans rarely do well after an International Break. I think the Swans will win 2-1 but won’t be surprised if it’s a 1-1 draw. <cheers>

I am feeling optimistic that our good away form will continue. So its 2-0 to the Swans
