Someone needs to tell Pfeffel that this is a good time of year to invade Russia.

A couple of years ago for Movember I tried to grow an Uncle Joe 'tache. Trouble is I just ended up looking like a kiddie fiddler.

Yeah, I'm not talking about what is said in English. What the Chinese government say in English is certainly not going to be the same as what they say in Chinese. Why would the government use English to spread their propaganda (to Chinese people), when everybody around the world speaks English? THIS WAS MY ORIGINAL POINT. It's what is said and done IN CHINESE that is the concern.

I don't know why your trying to prove that people don't like/trust China. I think that's glaringly obvious to everyone. I've known it since the day I moved to Asia. And now the rest of the Western world is starting to realise it through the events in Hong Kong.

In every single Asian country there is massive mistrust of China, and a general dislike of Chinese people.

This is in the BBC today: https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-50042379

It's getting more and more out of hand, and the only way I think China can be stopped is by the Chinese public themselves.

The overseas voters should be motivated a big campaign for all those that qualify to register. Cameron promised to extend or remove the 15 year time limit, didn't happen.

As i understand it what President Xi has said to China is nothing. Not made any other statement?

I think he and the government are trying to play it down and bringing photo's and videos of the protest into China is forbidden and strictly controlled at the border. Out of sight out of mind.

    You mean the HK protests?

Oh the Chinese government are fully utilising it all to their own advantage. They know it is impossible to hide it, because so many mainland Chinese live in HK now, or work/travel there. In the Chinese media, the protesters are 'rioters', and the only reason they are causing problems is because there are sinister Western influencers spreading evil anti-Beijing propaganda. They have basically turned the police force of HK into heroes, and regularly describe tales of police officers and other 'innocents' being attacked by the rioters.

The most famous example was of a 'journalist', who the protesters attacked and beat up because he was taking photos of protesters without showing them any press ID (they assumed he was undercover police). In the mainland he became an overnight celebrity for what he represented; being a victim of those vile Hong Kong rioters.

I don't even know half of what they have been reporting, but I can guess, because I know how it works there. All I know for sure is that the mainland Chinese currently hate the people of HK. It's pretty obvious what is causing them to do so.

I would love to go, but work won’t let me, nor my health at the moment as I have a bitch of a throat/chest infection, hence me being on here all hours - sick leave.
If I was able to go, I would take a banner reading:
Conservatives and Unionists Need Toppling Soon.
If only I could think of an acronym to shorten the message. <whistle>

Housing figures released today. While we've finished building more houses over the last year we have started building less, so less homes are going to be completed.

Additionally amount of money spent on temporary accommodation by local councils has increased from 10m to 90m since 2009. Note that temporary accommodation is meant to be a last resort so this is not a good thing.

My company has released a statement attacking the government saying there will continue to be an increasing homelessness problem unless there is a significant change in government policy. Both on house building and our inability to replace homes sold under Right to Buy which we see as a major contributor.

The Metropolititan Police declared a London-wide ban yesterday on peaceful protesting by XR: https://www.theguardian.com/environ...ellion-activists-defy-london-wide-protest-ban
Attendees on Saturday ought to be aware of this. They may be mingling with XR protesters as well who are continuing to protest.

Hopefully they will ban the People's Vote March. If they do then I will definitely go with the express intention of getting arrested. Should that happen I would refuse to sign anything and insist they keep me in custody. At 67 I have never been arrested but now is the time to call Pfeffel 's bluff.

Hmm, that's probably not the best idea. It would stop a huge number of people. Though I entirely see your motivation in that your protest becomes all the more significant.

I went to the peoples march last year (October I think it was) - I happened to be in London at the time. I found it very motivational. Hopefully this one will be even bigger.

It took Youtube 4 years to finally get around to recommending this to me. Made in 2015. It has a simple message:
