Being a fellow scouser, hes a very likeable chap(like myself ). Pricey is the very definition of the phrase"god loves a trier"
I actually think it's a very good match up. The key to Big Dave's success is to keep him on the end of his jab all night. But if he fails to do this and attempts to go to war with Del boy, it's not going to last that long. He now needs to go back to basics/amateur style. Keep it simple and box clever. Old Del boy hates a boxing match as he is far less skilled than most.

Boxing News 14 Hours has just published the following. Spence is awake and responding and his condition is listed as stable. He did not sustain any broken bones or fractures, but has some facial lacerations. He is expected to make a full recovery.
So now we know. Oleksandr Usyk's weight for his breakout heavyweight clash thisweekend, is a little more than a stone over the cruiserweight limit. He weighed in at 215 against Witherspoon's 242. Judging by his expression, I don't think Chazz is looking forward to the fight.
Here's a better look at Chazz Witherspoon. He's a well spoken gent who graduated from Uni with a degree in Pharmaceutical Marketing. This is the latest Chazz fight I can find. It's from 3 years ago, and against an ordinary opponent with a suss chin. But Chazz shows that he can bang a bit. I wish him well, but he's in for a flogging. 1-40 Usyk. 33-1 Witherspoon.
Satisfactory performance from Usyk last night. Slow and methodical is how he does things. He picked apart Witherspoon until he was just too exhausted to carry on. A few boos from the crowd at times. Obviously very uneducated boxing fans as anyone knows Usyk, knows he is not an all action explosive fighter.
I worry about Usyk's lack of power though and wasn't too impressed with the number of times he was hit in the face by a man rated 75 in the world. He admitted after the fight that he's going to have to be better in defence. The pic below shows what a journeyman did to him. I'm still a huge fan, but the hype is beginning to fall away for me. He's not as tall as some others, weighs just 215 pounds and really can't pop that hard. please log in to view this image
I wouldn't be unduly worried about his lack of stature/physical attributes. Hes still a better boxer than all of the supposed top heavyweights. He has undoubtedly got great fitness and stamina. That is something all the top heavyweights fall down on except Wilder. His stick and move style will serve him well against all but Fury. Hes the only one I would be concerned about as he is such an agile lump. He will deal with Wilder and Ruiz very comfortably. Joshua has chin and stamina issues, so i dont foresee him being a problem. So really I can only see an A game Fury as his greatest obstacle.
Now Joe Parker has recovered from his Illness. I really think he would be an ideal opponent for Usyk. Joe, bless his heart has very little power and aggression. But he has very good skills and speed.
In other heavyweight news Dave Allen has declared that he's very interested in fighting Daniel Dubois for the British title. Allen must not like his own face too much. Completely outclassed by David Price in his last fight I can't imagine what makes him think he'd have any chance against Dubois
Usky's team along with Matchroom's Eddie Hearn are keen on chasing down the WBO title as quickly as possible. Usyk has stated he wants the winner of the return bout between Ruiz and Joshua and Hearn has also said that Usyk will also get to fight the winner. When Usyk unified the WBA, WBC, IBF & WBO Cruiserweight belts, the WBO gave him their Super Champion rating. This automatically gave him mandatory status for the Heavyweight division. As things stand, Usyk is first cab off the rank with the WBO. From the vids I've been watching, Hearn isn't sure if Usyk will fight again before the WBO title shot. And Usyk seems to want it next. But it's not that easy. If the winner of the Ruiz - Joshua fight can talk Wilder into a clash, then that bout might take priority over a WBO title fight between it's own ranked fighters. Usyk could actually be hung out to dry for a while. Who knows? And the way the sanctioning bodies have been talking in the last year or so, there's a very real chance that the winner of the Ruiz -Joshua fight could have a belt or two stripped from him. The WBO and IBF titles could be for grabs next year.
Last Saturday in Chicago, a young gent named Patrick Day climbed into the ring against one Charles Conmell. At stake as the USBA Welterweight Title. Sadly Pat lost more than the fight. He was stretchered from the ring and placed in a coma. Yesterday he succumbed to his injuries, aged just 27. R.I.P. Pat.
Like every other sport, boxing can full of hot air. Promoters going all out to convince punters to invest their hard earned on the next so called "super fight." Some such as the Ruiz - Joshua clash are the real deal, and rightly so, but some other promotions may turn out to be little more than the equivalent of a cheap salve from a snake oil salesman. Some potentially decent fights though can slip under the radar. One of those is a Light Heavyweight clash which will take place in Philadelphia tomorrow night. The clash is between the Russian IBF World Champion Artur Beterbiev and the Ukraine's WBC World Champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk. Both men are undefeated. This bout brings together a hard punching, crude fighter in the shape of Beterbiev, the man with "fists of bricks," against the more elegant Gvozdyk, known as the "nail." Gvozdyk has the height and reach on the Beterbiev, but it'll probably be the latter who'll be on the front foot for most of the fight. He'll leave no stone unturned in his efforts to secure the win. I noticed in his last fight, there was a round where he must have tried 20 times to punch his opponent in the back of the head. Of course I'm not suggesting he did it on purpose, it could have been plenty of accidents. I think Gvozdyk will probably get the win, but I'm with Beterbiev. There's something about his ring savagery I quite enjoy. It could be a really nice fight. 6-5. Beterbiev. 5-6. Gvozdyk.
Beterbiev all day for me. One of my favourite active fighters. Think he wins by ko and shows the world he's the real deal. Odds against an absolute gift from a betting perspective
