Yeah, I'm sure you're right, RJ. I think Saints crowds have a reasonable record. They did in the past. Personally, I've had my faith in human nature thoroughly shakened just this last decade, more than others recently. Racism in sport really ought to have been properly sorted by now. This has been perpetuating for decades, and it dwindles and then finds resurgence. And it manifests itself in football supporters because the power of crowds buries individuals [or so they think], which lets them shout their obscenities. The longer we leave it the more bitter it will get.
I have been part of a goodly number singing "you look just like a wotsit" at Dean Lewington when MK Dons played at St Mary's, in their 3rd kit I think which was orange. You get a free pass with gingers though, cos as Cartman said, they've got no souls. And to be fair, He did look like a wotsit.
I would like to suggest it would galvanize our support on the night against sick morons who act so pathetically. Not just the mindless morons chanting but the blind Bulgarian officials who deny its happening. Our support is not perfect but well done everyone representing our country tonight. We can hold our heads high.
OK, It was a bit sweeping. I pay the price for trying to be accurate 99% of the time, I suppose. I do apologise. I would never include you, you argumentative b******.
There are racist people and hooligans in every country. We have many here in England. The alarming thing for me is not the behaviour of people, but the inability to police such behaviour. When did the British government decide to start tackling bad behaviour at sporting events? In the 80's. Yes, nearly forty years ago. Have they been successful? Yes, unbelievably so. To the point now that if something bad is heard in a stadium now even by a single supporter, there is uproar and it becomes a news story. So why the f*ck is almost every other European country completely useless at controlling the behaviour of people at their sporting events? It's 2019!! You know we will be having the same conversation in 2029. Not even UEFA seem to give a f*ck.
It confused my nipper somewhat that they had a black player but were determined to pour racial abuse on England. I had to point out my experience in the 70s was people are capable of bizzare, mixed up thinking. Sadly quoting his granddad (long gone) who uttered the awful "it;s ok he's one of our n*gg*rs" about Danny Wallace. For non-football reasons we both felt very proud of the England team at the end of the game.
Bulgarian 'fans' giving nazi salutes seems particularly idiotic considering Hitler considered slavic people (i.e. anyone East of Germany) as sub-human.
Wow! Just listened to Tyrone Mings on the World Service speaking about last night's events. Unlike Harry Kane, it was a pleasure to listen to this articulate young man speaking. He has obvious intelligence, and a career in jounalism and broadcasting if he desires this after his playing days are over. In the meantime, if his footballing prowess matches his articulation, then Villa and obviously England, have one great footballer.
Hes been sensational for villa, to be fair. I remember a lot of people laughing at the fee they paid, but I genuinely think it was a great buy even at that price.
Can't help but wonder, if we'd have been able to shift the lazy prick Wesley, we'd have been in for someone good a CB. A vocal leader back there & we'd be laughing. But, back to square pegs and round holes & hoping not to see mistakes.
Just realised when putting this weeks prediction thread together that it's East Fife v Forfar on Saturday. 200/1 for the classic 5-4 scoreline, got to be worth a quid
Completely forgotten. I wish you were as concerned about the climate. There you go: https://www.express.co.uk/sport/foo...st-abuse-England-fans-World-Cup-Boris-Johnson
You forgot what was in my post that you were replying to? Oh and that's yet another huge assumption from you btw. That link relates to twitter trolls, not racist chanting in the stands. Maybe try again, or admit you were talking bollocks in the first place...
Surely you can see why he's annoyed? Your assumption is a rather large smear on every match going fan. A lot of working class folk take their families to watch England play in the qualifiers, and they do not deserve to be linked in with the monkey chanting scum bags. I overlooked the comments last night, but saying you've forgotten is doing yourself a disservice today. Remember, there's a lot of good honest people on here reading those comments and thinking the same as Lib & I.
