Two issues for me... 1) why do the commentators keep banging on about it? Stop giving it air time ffs 2) why the three strikes? That's giving them two "freebies"
I get the feeling the pundit panel are absolutely loving the opportunity to rub it in. Racism isnt acceptable in any form, but I get the feeling Bulgaria have got the **** and of the stick and are the ones to be made an example of
I disagree. It needs bringing to the forefront and dealt with. It's time for action. Talk about it, name and shame and take positive steps to stamp it out. It's the first high profile game in which the protocol has been put into practice. And guess what, the culprits were thrown out and the game wasn't abandoned because of the 3 steps. It acts as a warning to others.
I'll be honest, I expected the game to be abandoned from about 5 minutes in. I thought this is the one that gets stopped, they will use Bulgaria as the whipping boys and regardless of what happens it will get done. Instead the usual UEFA ****e occurred, half arsed action, but noubt really. It's going to take something big, like a team ****ing the result off for the sake of the cause to actually shame UEFA and fifa into doing something
Bulgaria sre not really whipping boys though are they. That means they take the blame for something that someone else did. They are historically racist. Wearing shirts saying 'no respect'. That's shameful. UEFA and Fifa are only concerned about themselves, you're right. They are at least trying to do something. It's fair enough to give two warnings before abandoning. Let's hope this is the start of a real effort to stop racism.
I don't disagree but continuously talking about Bulgarians being ****s on British TV isn't going to achieve a thing. The only thing it does it's piss the viewers off; either because it's repeated so much it's like Chinese torture or because the racial abuse is so disgusting. Fifa are bottle jobs and will continue to failure in dealing with the issue.
It's a subject (not racism itself but what happened tonight) that divides opinion. Some won't see the point of prolonging the discussion, others will welcome it. If it means that black players feel supported then that can only be good.
Sorry, when I said whipping boys I meant more they where going to be put up as the example, regardless of what they did. Yes they didnt help themselves tonight, but you've seen the same and worse behaviour across the continent but this is the first time I've heard of any 3 strike rule, or any effort at actually tackling the behaviour at the game itself. On a side note, I felt really sorry for mings, international debut, you've played well and won 6 nil and the first question your asked is how do you feel the battle against racism is going.
I agree with you here, it just felt like they where turning the screw, rather than adding anything to the discussion.
