They keep putting out the message: "The board believe the rebuilding will take a number of transfer windows". Whilst I do agree I just hope we manage to stay in the premier league and keep Ralph whilst this happens!
Yeah, I won't be losing much sleep over losing Ross. He's quite easily replaceable, but hopefully we will replace and improve on him. It'll always be difficult to split the blame/credit between Reed and Wilson but it's fair to say it wasn't great.
Ross Wilson was involved in plenty of excellent transfers. While he has been a part of Saints he has constantly been sought after by other clubs. As usual, people are rather more quick to see the bad rather than the good, in individuals.
Yeah, given the resources he's had to play with. He's been involved in some absolute stunning transfers.
We shouldn't forget that top clubs make expensive mistakes too....players they ship out a year or two later without fanfare. We notice our's more because it's our team and we can't afford to fritter away millions in the same way. No club has only success in the transfer market.
Resources? Look at the money hes spunked up the wall ... you cant exactly say hes had little to work with. Stunning transfers?
The resources have been uneven. When we had the Liebherrs it was relatively plentiful. These days, not anything like as much. Wilson has manged to get the players in that have been asked for, and missed some. I think there's a misunderstanding of what he actually did. People seem to be partially blaming him for the team playing poorly. He's got nothing to do with that.
I'm well aware of that. The signings hes made for the team haven't been good enough ... and they certainly haven't helped turn it around. I'm well aware of the difference.
So it's his fault? [a description of his history and what he actually did] https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/34202470
Not 100% no, because no signing is ever on one man. But as chief scout, and then director.of football, hes had a big say and a huge share of the responsibility. It's no coincidence that his time here has coincided with our downturn in the transfer market.
