it's becoming increasingly clear that there is no takeover and never was in fact ever a takeover ! a couple of the americans are investing small amounts of money in the club and dell might even have pulled out of backing them altogether … now sunderland fans are clinging on to hope it's a gradual takeover and trying to pretend they are still delighted.
“The talks to attract investor- we have never said it is a takeover – remains ongoing. Those discussion have been going on for some time but we must stress, this is about planning for the future in the Championship, but we need to get promoted first. We need to get out of League One for the next part of the project to begin.
You seem to be obsessed with their takeover. You are posting on 3 different boards on it - or you were until they banned you from theirs. Really not that interested - would be surprised if they don't get taken over at some stage. They got sold on the cheap to a chancer who just wants to make a bit of cash and move on. Even with his mark up they must be a bargain. It is ridiculous (in a hysterically funny way) that a club of their size are in League 1. The fact that the investors may just put a bit in at this stage doesn't bode well though. Any serious investor would take the whole lot while its cheap and get on with what they want to do with the club.
The problem with a club that has a large fanbase and gets 30k or 40k, is although it usually sees a team bounce back rapidly due to the larger revenue streams, it also quickly becomes a millstone round the neck in terms of upkeep costs, and it doesn't take long before unwise playing staff investments take a dramatic toll. Leeds United were perhaps the best example, and there are a lot of similarities with the way Sunderland overspent (even on loan deals), potentially in the fact Leeds spent 3 seasons regrouping in League One, and proportionally in the decline in crowd attendance. It was likely only investment from the mafiaoso that spared them financial ruin, and all the noise coming out of Sunderland suggests the exact same thing. A takeover is preferable, but investment is a must to push the club back towards the money pit, otherwise I can see the stadium being sold, the balance sheet becoming insolvent and ultimately a tough fight for the club to exist within the next 5 years. As a Newcastle fan it's interesting not only because of the rivalry, but because it's a rather obvious and inmediate cautionary tale.
It would be absolutely **** if Sunderland went bust. I'd be ****ing gutted. Same with Leeds actually, I look forward to them being back in the Prem, I still see them as one of the originals of English football, it's not the same without them.
Cos that numpty Smug in Boots is claiming some deep inside knowledge that he clearly has never had. He's been rambling on like for ****ing years the nob.
who'd we have to hate then? Middlesbrough? I'm sorry I've always found it a little bit of stretch that we have a genuine rivalry with the Smoggies...
I am just piss taking man, the north east is THE best supported in the world yer Arsenals and spurs, Man u are fickle we both should be at the top of the premier league, but cheapskate owners keep us from doing this.
