He has played for them and he scored in their last game.

Hmmm...... a midfielder that can score!

For the right deal he's a good option when fit but realistically that is seldom the case. The issue we have currently is that if Rondon is injured we are straight away down to the bare bones and we don't even own Rondon!!

Carroll is theoretically better than Joselu, Gayle and Perez up front and can do the role Rondon is doing at the moment. I wouldn't want to be paying him even half of what West Ham currently are but then again if you offered me Colback for a season on 50k or Carroll for 5 games (and crocked the rest) when Rondon can't play I'd pick the latter. It's just that he's likely to expect more money than he's worth and that makes it a non-starter.

I wish him well though and it's a shame how his career has panned out.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henri_Saivet

Says he has played 19 games this season for them scoring that one goal!

Except Andy would probably be crocked for those 5 games as well.

Which is also wrong, cos he's scored at least twice this season.

Taking Carroll on loan/short term, would be like the Sturridge debacle at West Brom, when they'd banked on him getting the goals, and he managed to play 3 games before he got crocked.

The obvious comparison to Carroll is Duncan Ferguson - i.e. unplayable and terrifies defenders when he's fit, but he's ALWAYS injured. Hence why I take issue when people say Woodgate was our best defender ever, cos he never bloody played.

Allardyce blamed Carroll's injuries on the fact he does recover properly and take care of himself, this was obviously the case with Dyer too, who constantly had minor petty injuries keeping him out. Rondon isn't really a meaningful comparison, as when you see Rondon play, you know he's going to bulldoze through defenders, with Carroll you're thinking he's going to get crocked at the slightest touch of another player.

Basically a round about way of saying we've our experience with constantly injured crocks, and we don't want another one coming back.

Does anyone have the details of Carroll's contract?
I know it's pay as you play, but how much?
