Sky saying we’ve asked permission to speak to 5 managers who are already at clubs and also speaking to those not in employment like Stendel. Sounds like we are doing a thorough job and looking at plenty of candidates and hearing what their plans for the team would be. Which is reassuring.

Ainsworth was at Wimbledon in the Crazy Gang days and played under John Beck at Lincoln. Therefore, his footballing upbringing is very much grounded in a direct, high energy game.
When he was interviewed by Michael Calvin for the book 'Living on the Volcano' he admitted that he needed to be better tactically and technically and that he'd like to study the game more but didn't have time.
The one thing that does interest me about him is his approach to signing players. He sets a lot of store in understanding what their character is like, whether they can cope with the pressures of professional football. That is something that has been missing from our recruitment for a long time.
However, if people thought SAFC was too big for Jack Ross...

You're right, but Jack Ross told Stewart Donald that his style of play was attacking football, and the fans would love it. Lets hope SD has learned from this and does his own homework.

Same for me, if this is the calibre of managers he’s looking at then he’s gonna lose a lot of goodwill amongst fans and we will be in this **** division a long long time.

And hes just got promoted out of this ****ty league, a no brainer for me , hes available so no compo to pay. He will also have a vast knowledge of the German leagues so hopefully he could pick up some decent players.

Stendel with super Kev as head / attack coach, he would probably get Grigg firing...

You could well be right as I had a lost interest by that time and could well have missed such an interview, my last memories of SKP was of him defending Ried against the mounting criticism, saying that he trusted the manager to get things right at the club, a fatal mistake in hindsight. To my mind he was sharp in the box but never the sharpest tool in the proverbial box, if you get my gist. <ok>

The Barnsley fans loved him, and it looks like he enjoys a beer, he'll do for me :)

Ross has his critics 're hoofball but if we get Ainsworth he'll make Jack look like Pep Gladioli.

I’d be ****ing raging if it was someone like Ainsworth.

It would be a cheap, thoughtless and sickeningly unambitious move.

His tool wasnt sharpest in another box ( of the human variety ). Didnt one of his fellow players 'have it in for him' so to speak?

I like the idea of a German coach and stendel seems canny.
Be fantastic if he did come with Phillips as assistant as mentioned.

Take the edge off the disappointment of the takeover if it has failed.

Class video of Stendel doing shots with a bar full of Barnsley lads doing the rounds.

    I like him.
