Just to clarify, I read what OLM says here as referring indeed to Cameron Stewart, you know our winger from days gone past who ended up in sick bay every time he tripped over a blade of grass, not our current player Kevin Stewart.
Henriksen’s technically good on the ball, he can pick a pass (and actually complete it) and he’s a decent finisher, he’s ideal for the role of attacking midfielder, a position where we’re currently desperately lacking. He’s regularly been slated by many, even when he was one our best performers, he’s probably used to it by now.
He was an out and out attacking midfielder at Rosenberg, they tried him as a defensive midfielder for a few games, but it was a disaster and they immediately switched him back. He was an attacking midfielder in Holland. He should be an attacking midfielder in Hull.
It’s just my opinion based on what I’ve seen, I think he’s in a different league to Honeyman or Lopes.
I have to laugh at some posters on here who criticise Henriksen who is one of the best passers of the ball we have yet praise Meyler as being some sort of talisman yet had one of the worst pass success rates in the Championship - in fact Bolton away in his final season he managed 32% - but that's ok because he plays FIFA and takes the piss out of Turbo
Is that the player who Brucie thought was good enough for the Prem but no-one else did - the player who immediately after getting shipped on became a professional bench warmer at Wigan before he was shipped on to become a professional bench warmer at Kilmarnock
That’s the biggest pile of **** ever He was absolutely terrified playing as the attacking midfielder with his back to defenders He has been far better as the defensive midfielder
All the same, OLM is spot on that he is a better option than we currently have to play alongside Stewart. Either, as someone has suggested there is a trigger that increases his salary or a bonus, whatever it may or not be, or the manager is a complete ****wit. Our previous manager thought him good enough to be the club captain.
Again that’s one of the very few things Adkins got totally wrong. Henriksen was never captain material.
That's the only thing that matters really , is he a better option . He doesn't have to be the best player in the Championship As far as Honeyman is concerned nobody can criticise his effort but how effective is he really ?
Markus Henriksen admits he is saddened by his steep fall from grace with Hull City as he continues to be frozen out of Grant McCann’s plans. Henriksen is currently on international duty with Norway ahead of their Euro 2020 qualifier at home to Spain this weekend he is yet to feature for the Tigers at any stage of this Championship season. Uncertainty over his future initially led McCann to not consider the midfielder during the opening month and nothing has changed since the closure of European transfer window confirmed Henriksen would stay with City until at least January. The 27-year-old has since turned down the chance to sign a contract extension with the Tigers, with an exit now seemingly inevitable either in January or as a free agent next summer. “It’s obviously sad, but that’s the way the club wants to go about it,” Henriksen told reporters in Norway. “Why it has to be like this? You have to ask them. Instead of complaining and making a drama about it, I do my job. “I come to training with a smile, and I do everything I can to stay as fit as possible. “My only message to them has been that I’m ready if they want to use me. They used their option to extend, so I have one year left.” Henriksen’s only competitive action since the final day of last season came last month when he was part of a Norway side that drew 1-1 with Sweden. He is expected to keep his place when lining up against Spain in a crucial fixture in Oslo on Saturday and that will be a far cry from his low-key appearances for City in recent times. As well as turning out in an under-23s fixture against QPR at the KCOM Stadium, he also played in a behind-closed-doors friendly against York City, a game City won 9-2 at their training ground. McCann has continued to keep faith with the midfielders he believes have a long-term future with City and without an injury crisis it grows increasingly difficult to see Henriksen forcing his way back in at the KCOM Stadium. “I’ve made it very clear what I think,” added Henriksen. “I am ready, and I am fit. “Everyone that knows anything about football understands that you don’t go from being captain and playing well, to suddenly not being good enough for a squad of 20 players.” Asked about turning out for City’s under-23s, he added: “I’ve wanted to play there to stay match fit, because I train with the first team as usual and spend all my time there, except I don’t get to play. “It is important to play matches, because I want to be in best possible shape when it comes to the national team as well.”
It really does make you scratch your head, with City having a relatively thin squad anyhow, and having to tighten our belts, to have 2 players on wages and frozen out Milikovic and Henriksen does seem rather odd.
Those were the exact reasons we signed him in the first place, as an AM. It's only when players come to us we try to change them and make them fit our system, instead of buying players who can actually play that role. Like playing Lopes, a CM, at RB. Or Meyler, a CM, at RB. Or Richard Garcia, a right winger, at RB. Or Aluko, a winger, as a lone striker. Then we hear "oh he's ****ing ****". Well obviously, it's not like a podiatrist could do open heart surgery just because he's also a doctor, same applies to footballers.
No, because he had played there at Sunderland and at ENPPI, the latter being the ones who made him a RB.
