As has been pointed out, Ndombele seemed to be the only player who came over and checked on him While you don't want a bunch of players crowding around when the medical team are doing their jobs, for obvious reasons, at the very least you'd expect his defence to be checking up on him given their proximity
Shame. If he'd only punched the ball away instead of stopping it going over the line, the score would have remained 0-0 and he wouldn't have landed on his back. Now we can only hope that our reserve goalie hasn't gone backwards too. He showed so much promise!
Whiteman seems to be third choice at present but I wouldn’t be surprised if we do try to sign an emergency goalie. Time for Gazza to step up though. Many of us, myself included, wanted him to be given a run last season after he impressed greatly in games. Hugo recaptured his form and stopped his blunders not long afterwards (until Brighton) but now Gazza has a real chance to say to Poch “I’m your number one now”.
One thing we can guarantee is we’ll have a keeper who can play out from the back but we do also need to appreciate that Gazza hasn’t got the same level of reflexes as Hugo. Pros and cons to both. We’ll now see if Gazza’s pros outweigh Hugo’s.
Judging by the state of it, it'd probably make as good a DM as what remains of Victor Wanyama... please log in to view this image
