    Out of the relegation zone.

    bringing Matty to the fore.

One win away from the top 10.

More points than Rafa had this time last season.

First time he’s ever beaten Man Utd.

    Arise Sir Steve.

    One of our own.

After sitting through our thrashing at Leicester City, it was blessed relief to actually see the team compete!
    Albeit with last season's tactics...

Matty should have been in earlier, shouldn't have taken an injury to let him have his chance.

We were made to look better yesterday cos the entire Man U team clearly didn't give a ****, we can't draw conclusions from that match.

Christ ! this is why I refute that i'm negative !! I just say what I see and there was nothing but positives yesterday .. forget the rafa bruce argument mate it matters not. man united would rather say we are **** than credit the opposition, so **** them … that side would have gone fifth they aren't that bad we played well.

When we get completely outplayed by Norwich and Brighton, but comfortably beat Man U, you can safely say that somethings wrong at Man U.

Man U definitely ARE that bad atm, we need to see what the Chelsea performance is like before drawing any conclusions.

To dispel any overblown Rafa support, Sean Longstaff only got his chance because of injury/suspension.

It'll be very interesting to see what happens vs Chelsea.

We have an identity, I feel, which plays to the strengths in the squad and the fans beliefs. We like effort, a team that tries, and that defensive work isn't lost on us. Plus we can, at times, be joyful and dangerous going forward. Willems, Yedlin, Max, Almiron give us good options to get up the field quickly - when deployed right - and the Longstaffs add energy that's been missing from midfield. We then have options as well throughout the team; 6 decent CB's when all are fit, Ritchie backup for Willems, Manky for Yedders, Hayden's ok, two good options at CF; Atsu's ok as backup, etc. We'll need Bruce to be a bit better when we play 'lesser' teams, this is where Rafa excelled, such as utilising Schar better, being able to play with more control 10 yards further up the pitch, how to use pacey counter-attackers against teams who keep the ball, or sit deep. I suspect the jury will remain out for some time - didn't McLaren's team beat Liverpool when he was on the verge of being sacked?

that was a totally different side that played those teams mate #

did you notice brighton beat spurs 3-0 yesterday and norwich beat city earlier in the season ??? all the teams have very good players and can win

that bad side couldn't be beaten by arsenal and beat Chelsea!!

It really wasn't a totally different side, the only difference was yesterday we have Sean and Matty in the team, and in those games we had Hayden and Shelve in instead.

2 new players don't totally transform a team, and I'm not sold on Bruce's tactics, even Sean looked naff against Leicester, and he's never had a bad game before that.

We can't draw many conclusions from a 1-0 win against a diabolical Man U side, Joelinton and Miggy were awful once again, I hardly see this as the tide turning just yet.

clark , yedlin, matty, saint max and carrol nearly 50% of the side was different plus sean didn't start at norwich or play against brighton if memory serves me correct. How many changes would constitute change is a side ? man united would have gone 5th yesterday … the media and fans are way ott because they've been spoiled over the decades.. we beat man united !!! Chelsea and arsenal could not beat them. I'm accused of being negative, but I say what I see and yesterday we had a very different line up and played very well! we could have won by more than 1. Chelsea will be harder , but we can take confidence from that imo

Man U are on 9 points and the team in 5th has 14 points.....how could they have gone 5th???!!!

We beat a Man Utd team that have recently lost to West Ham and Crystal Palace, and nearly went out of the league cup to Rochdale.

Why do you think all the pundits and journalists are writing constant articles on how bad they are? Plus they're not just playing badly, stats back it up, it's their worst start to a season for 50 years.

Beating Man U really isn't that much of a scalp right now.

We have started better than Benitez did with very similar games.

I think the Bruce signings have been overall good, when Benitez signed a player I was always dubious, apart from his defenders most of them have been ****e.

If Bruce drops Shelvey and plays the Longstaffs, j will be a happy man. I think we will start winning more and more games.

7th then were nowhere near that level

but you claimed it was the same side

why? because they are spoiled rotten fans that gauge themselves against the best sides in the world . They may not be the best man united side ever but they are the 4th most expensive side in the world so they are still some way off being crap
    its always a big scalp

It's all relative really, yes they're a million times better than my local team playing down the Dog & Duck on a Sunday lunchtime, but compared to the standards Man Utd have set for themselves over the last 30+ years, they are crap.

Surely it tells you something when the 4th most expensive side in the world is only 12th in the Premiership? They're all obviously quality players, but they're lazy and uninterested right now and don't give a ****.

On the flipside, we have a team like Leicester, assembled at a fraction of the cost of Man Utd, who rip us apart because they're committed, passionate and play like a team.

I just don't think you can use it as a yardstick when we've beaten a poor Man Utd team full of overpaid wasters who clearly don't care right now. Chelsea will be more of a yardstick, a team in transition who aren't doing as well as they usually do, but are playing as a team and will give us far more of a game.
