Not a chance you have read any of these books (or even attempted to read them) tho, I do believe people do recognise you as a a bit of a Kant!
Flashman's Lady is probably my favourite too. More because of the range of adventures covered; James Brooke and the Borneo Pirates, Queen Ranavalona and early Madagascan history and of course the cricket match. Mountain of Light runs it close, but that is probably because it was the first one I read so it started the whole Flashman thing for me!
The Emperor (about Julius Caesar) and Conqueror (about Genghis Khan) series by Conn Iggulden are pretty good too if you're into historical stuff. Robert Harris' Roman books are also great, as are all his books IMO. I really enjoyed James Clavell's Asian saga too.
I was never a member of the Library anyway, and i would rather give them to the Library where lots of people can get them and read them, rather than give them to a Charity Shop where 1 person would read them and then get stored away in a box for years and never get read (like i did, even though I only got rid of the books I have read, so it was either donate them or chuck them, never to be read again). And I do have a Kindle, I have 500,000 books on my PC, but I still buy the odd book, A few people said I should read House of Leaves Mark Z. Danielewski, as it was the scariest book they have ever read, so instead of downloading it, and reading it on my Kindle, I bought it (for about £30 as well), and it is one of the worst books i have ever read, I am still waiting for a scary part (and I have finished it). And all the books i listed in my original post, all apart from the Thomas Covenenant books are real books, and I have owned all the Thomas Covenant books previously, but lost them when I moved house.
Currently reading Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman. A collection of short stories. There's some good stuff in there. Just finished The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy. Hadn't read it since my early teens and kinda forgot how good it is. Probably the funniest book I've read.
