How can they have watched Benn fight? He hasn’t fought in a ring for over 20 years? It’s not like he is an up and coming youngster.

Yes but fighting in a ring is completely different. Also why has the BBBC refused a license? I don’t know but I would hazard a guess as to the reasons.

You keep stating this but what actually is the point of him fighting? If in order to ensure his safety they are going to have to match him against someone who is a similar age, or younger but not very good then what is the point?

Maybe they should introduce a Masters Pro Boxing Classification for over 50's but there is probably a good reason why they don't - as you age your reflexes go and it gets more dangerous.

Have to say if you have to match him accordingly then he shouldn't be fighting. You're either fit to fight or you aren't. If he can pass the tests then crack on. If he can't then he can't fight. The only thing I have a problem with is people getting all pious or ageist trying to tell people what they can and can't do. **** those people.

Its his choice for me as long as he can pass the tests. I don't know why people are obsessed with trying to prevent people doing things they want to do. If it risks harm to others then it is different. And you could tenuously say him getting hurt badly in the ring could have long lasting effect on the person he is fighting I suppose, but they they've also got in the ring by choice. Do the tests and let the man decide his own destiny. Just because your average is not fit and ****ed at 50, you can't apply the logic to everyone. The bloke is absolutely ripped all year round, he is fitter than most 30 odd year old men. I don't like the idea of it as I liked watching him when I was younger, he was ****ing nuts. I tell you what though any ****s start trying to tell me what I can't do when I pass 50, they'll get short ****ing shrift.

Boxing is to a very large degree an endurance sport. The peak age for endurance sports is much later than for athletics generally. If Benn is training seriously, he will be able to dish it out quite well. He won't bee able to absorb punishment as well as he did previously but why is this our concern ? He is an informed adult who wishes to engage in a moderate risk activity. I wouldn't appreciate anyone telling me I was too old to take up skydiving or riding a horse. The second probably has a higher risk of injury than a well run boxing match.

If society are into chopping off dicks because someone thinks they would prefer to live a life as a caricature stereotype of a lady, then a 55-year old dude shouldn't get judged because his obviously damaged brain wants to clamber back into the ring.

If anything we should be clapping at him and holding him up as a role-model, and erroding the rights of other boxers.
