Not last night. Overall, yes. Put even half of our very presentable chances away and you’re playing on the counter against a load of slow dross with one way of playing. Concede as sloppily as we did twice and you’ll always be in trouble. Just not our night but no need to throw the baby out. It’s a new team and new style. We’ve seen glimpses of it working brilliantly so just put your big boy pants on and get used to it.
True. But at the end of the day, both teams has FOUR shots on target. They scored THREE (75% sucess rate) and we scored ZERO. It is true that we hit the woodwork twice with the inform and motivated Smithies beaten, but it does not count. Cardiff were very CLINICAL in their finshing.
We helped them with atrocious defending. Very happy with the progress under Warburton so far, but we definitely need a lot of hard work doing on our defense.
Agree all this talk of ex prem team is rubbish. Re Huddersfield as example. Cardiff were not a good team and it was our inexperience and tactics that cost us. Even when we were 2-0 down I believed like you that the game wasn't over. WBA beat us because they were better. Cardiff beat us because we were naive.
I can't remember when we had that much possession over a whole game let alone that much AND losing too!
We actually hit the beans THREE times (everyone seems to have missed that BOS's early shot also hit the woodwork).
He has played the cup matches. In both I was really concerned about his lack of command in his own box. His lack of communication and his problems with crosses. Yes his distribution is better than Lumley but his goalkeeping is not And after all he is a goalie
Thought he was excellent. Needs to improve his finishing for sure but I like him a lot and think he can have a career up front rather than on the wing. He’s got a lot stronger and clearly worked on his game with his back to goal.
I didn't see him do anything wrong. Don't think he could have saved the 3 goals, and his distribution was pretty good. I doubt that his shot stopping and cross handling ability is as good as Lumley, but in view of the repeated errors Lumley has been making I think Kelly deserves another chance. If we don't have a better Keeper than these 2 though, I do think we need to be looking for one. Same goes for our CDs.
What a weird game. Good news is that it was so much better than v WBA. Only QPR can lose 3 zip and have 72% possession!! and away from home against a recently relegated team. I disagree with most on here as like MW says we play like that every week we WILL win mostly. Still looking dodgy at the back and not sure of either keeper but to go to Cardiff and dominate is exceptional. What is worrying is that we again didn't look confident in scoring. BOS should have scored right at the start, Kane and Pugh should have scored and Eze and Manning were very unlucky hitting the woodwork but give those chances to any other team in the Championship they would have notched a few. If teams see our issues are in both penalty areas we are in trouble as they will be quite happy losing the possession stats.....
Let’s get back to winning ways again on Saturday. Still a young team. Still trying to play. Our defenders need to organise better. It will come.
Quite. I actually think this side will give another team a good hiding before this season is out. I obviously hate the team losing, but if they stick to Warburton’s methodology and philosophy I think they can only improve as a side.
The only decent attempt from BOS I remember was early on, after he ran twice as fast as their LB to win a good long Chair pass down the right, then took the ball past the back, into the box, but Smithies beat out his shot on his left at chest height fairly comfortably.
