Amazing few days. I got knocked off the computer last week. My wife was due in hospital at 7.30 am Friday but we had to cancel due to our water heater under the house leaking..One and a half thousand the cost. Then,Sunday night, the air condition in the attic stopped working (90 degrees!) followed by the one in the crawl space. Then...I had to take a sick dog to vet this morning,Tuesday……..and now I have to take a sick Spurs team to the Knackers Yard to sort 'em out! I noticed the Bayern players busy down our right side, suddenly passing to our left side where we didn't seem to have any players, letting Bayern an open path practically to our goal. We also should have been 3-0 up before they scored, but we weren't. Carry on like this and we will be playing Sunderland next season! An early Merry Christmas Bayern. Hope you return the compliment!
There is no gloss that can be lavished over that performance. Yeah, we played well for large portions of that game, but all of that was undone by the manner in which we fell apart. It was shameful to watch, and we are rightly the laughingstock of English football right now. What we are about to discover is whether or not there is any character or pride in this team. If there was any arrogance or complacency among any of our players, that result, and the experience of that result ought to have kicked it out of them. What I want to see is some serious rebuilding from Poch, and I want to see Levy backing him to the hilt. Am I right in thinking that we were worse with Eriksen on the pitch? He needs to go in January, whether or not he is replaced, because I think a large part of the problem that Poch is facing has everything to do with his situation. And what the Hell has happened to our defence! It used to be one of the best in England. At the moment, Colchester has a better defence than ours. Whatever is wrong with it needs to be fixed immediately. I'm willing to forgive this shambolic performance, but only if the lessons are learned and we see an immediate improvement in attitude and tactics.
Because he knows he won't get a bollocking from Poch. And that's the crux of it... he's too bloody soft. Can you imagine Fergie or Mourinho accepting that? Or even the great Bill Nick? No... “Any player coming to Spurs whether he’s a big signing or just a ground staff boy must be dedicated to the game and to the club. He must be prepared to work at his game. He must never be satisfied with his last performance, and he must hate losing.”
In the cold light of day: Nah I’m still ****ing fuming. Stats show a remarkably even game and yes Bayern were clinical but I don’t see where the reaction to this comes from. I don’t think the manager has the dressing room to the extent where he can dish out a bollocking, and I don’t think any of the senior players apart from Kane have the gumption to get angry at their peers.
Its difficult to know where to start after last night - But lets start with the positives. Loved the beer! Stadium amazing the whole match day experience the noise at kick off was pheonomenal The first 30 minutes we played very well and we should have taken our chances and gone in at HT leading by at least 2. The second half was a shambles but how good were Bayern in front of goal, I am not criticise individuals it was collectively awful from about 40 mins onwards and the capitulation totally unacceptable.
We had 2 of the worst FB performances you'd ever not want to see out there last night. Rose went wandering, getting caught out of position, half-assed chasing back and not picking up his man. He also added little or nothing going forward. In his one defence, there was no regular cover on the left. Aurier on the other hand is impetuous, slack and at best inconsistent. Last night he was just plain dreadful in virtually every aspect of the game. But apart from that, they were pretty good.
Last night made a few things absolutely clear for me. Both Vertonghen and Alderweireld are up to, if not past their sell by date at this level. Players like Gnabry running at them they just can’t handle. Aurier is just a liability - Gnabry just took him apart. Winks offers absolutely nothing apart from his willingness to run around like an over enthusiastic puppy. Ok, their finishing was out of this world - every goal was well taken. But the way we just caved in is just totally unacceptable, if the game had lasted another 10 minutes we’d be looking at double figures.
You are spot on Spurlock about Dele, my lad has seen the cocksure cvnt a few times in a casino in Milton Keynes and believe you me, he’s exactly the arrogant little Billy Big bollocks you describe........ “ look at me with my big wad of cash and my 90 grand Rolex “ Though I must balance that and admit Jamie Vardy drew headlines for his antics in a casino for what was construed as racism for calling out a Japanese guy who had a mate assisting him in a game of Hold em poker ! Don’t think we’d see, say, someone like Peter Crouch act like that, on both counts !
Totally agree...shame more ain't like him...he is like a throw back to the footballers of my childhood in his attitude.
Let's see what happens when we play you next season, the mags already have beaten you at home and they are useless
The turd division is awful..I hate it...the tinpot cup is a waste of time..it helped cost us promotion last season.. Still you might be finding it out soon. I have not been to your new stadium yet, went to the old one lots with inlaws when I lived in London.. perhaps next season
The trouble with stats (imo) is they can be used to look one thing but not others. You points about yesterday's match only work if we take that gsme in isolation. However when.coupled with facts like... 1) we have won 2, drew 2 and lost 10 of our last 14 away games. 2) we have dropped 19 points from winning positions from our last 42 league games. 3) we have thrown away 10 points from winning positions in our last 8 CL group games. 4) we have failed to score in 7 out of our last 14 matches. (Including Colchester) 5) we have kept just 2 clean sheets in the last 15 games (including Colchester) 6) we have conceded just before half time in 3 games out of the last 6. 7) we hsve lost 40% of our matches this season. 8) we have lost 24 games out of the last 64 matches we have played it suggests there is a long term issue. Taking yesterday's result in isolation misses the point imho.
Oh I just remembered We didn’t need to strengthen our super squad That was the excuse doing the rounds when Levy was giving zero ****s about progress on the pitch and putting it all on Poch to squeeze every ounce of effort out of the same bunch. Long term affects coming to fruition
It's hard to know where to start...but let's have a go. 1. Against a top side, Winks at the base of a diamond is a no-no. We've seen it before and he can't do it against the better sides...if we continue to see it again, then we're done. 2. Our full backs from last night aren't up to the job. They may play well against Palace but against Bayern, they're a million miles off what's required. Time to get Davies into the starting XI and as I said after last Saturday, Aurier shouldn't be playing for us again. 3. In big games, we continue to play individuals who have no form or fitness. Why was Dele Alli in last night's team ahead of the alternatives who were sat on the bench? 4. Where is the game management? We continually concede goals right before half time. It's the worst time to do it and most of them are from ridiculous errors - overplaying in daft areas or just making stupid mistakes. In the last few minutes, you have to lock the pitch down. We open up like a ripe fruit. 4a. Where is the game management? What the **** are we doing conceding a goal straight after scoring? Like in the run up to half time, you lock down your half of the pitch to be ready for the response and....just maybe hit them on the break. Not us, we're more open than ever. 5. Substitutions.... 6. We continue to waste the talents of Harry Kane. The most worrying thing about these problems is that they aren't just from last night. They've been happening for a couple of years now. They're becoming more and more obvious and they're happening more and more often.
