+15 gd,how long since it’s even been in double figures?

I thought First Half Tranmere looked as good as anyone we’d seen this Season closing us down very quickly, but Second Half they ran out of steam giving us far more time to pass it around well.

I would say the problem with the 1st half was the continued use of the long ball. Tranmere had a cb who must have been 6”6 and he was comfortably heading everything away. In the 2nd half, it was clear that PL had asked for higher tempo and simple pass and move football which is what the players produced and got the goals. 10 games in and a great start to the season- I think this in part to the way we’re playing but also, from what I’ve seen, the division is not quite as strong as we were lead to believe. If we can keep the squad generally injury free, we must have a great chance this season

I think the first half performance was largely influenced by the clean sheet record. If we got to 48 minutes, then we would have broken the team record. These things naturally play on the minds of people at the football club.

The first half performance, Garbutt’s free kick aside, was poor. We looked overly cautious, either passing it around sedately in our own half or launching long balls up field and hoping to challenge for the second. Chambers making his customary one key mistake a match, Wilson struggling to distribute the ball effectively (why does he continue to be picked over Wolfenden), and the strikers starved of service.

We were much better in the second half though, and credit to Kane Vincent-Young, Cole Skuse, Luke Garbutt, and Kayden Jackson for some strong overall displays. Moving Skuse further up in the second half helped to contribute to a more incisive Town side. It also helped that this Tranmere side struggled to put away their chances, a few of which would have been gratefully taken in the Championship.

Unbeaten, still sitting pretty top of the league, and another positive match day atmosphere at the ground. But this team still needs to work hard on building a style that will be both sustainable and effective in the division above.

We have added a couple of very good players in the summer. Let’s do the same in January and again next summer and add to that players coming through. That’s the only way we will find ourselves toward the top of the Championship.

KVY, Holy and Norwood the perfect signings for us. But the job is not done yet. Need more fire power, wingers, CAM, CDM, a left back and more CB options to compete at that level.

Agreed. We look weak at left back, so a new signing should be a requirement there. One or two centre backs, comfortable at a Championship level, should also be a massive priority next summer - particularly with Chambers and Wilson the wrong side of 30 in a league where the speed of football is noticeably quicker than League One.

A defensive midfielder would be good - although I am hoping Downes can mature into that role.

I'm just hoping we don't all think we're already in the Championship

There will be many bumps in the road ahead.

Of course we should not take anything for granted, and I'm hopeful that the players are not going to be complacent over the course of this season. We have a tough away trip at Fleetwood Town next week, who are third and only four points behind us, so that could be a potential bump in the round.

However, I think we clearly recognise the strengths in this squad, the good form we're in, and the fans' general expectation that we should be a Championship-level side. Therefore, I hope that we have a forward-thinking plan, ready to implement, for when we do get back into the Championship. We should be identifying players and having a formation or system in mind, for ensuring we can stay in the Championship and not follow the example of clubs like Rotherham United and just yo-yo between the two leagues.

With a quarter of the season behind us to be top and unbeaten, scoring freely even without James Norwood and with the best defensive record in the division then just as it was safe to say we were all but relegated after 15 games last year there is no sign of anybody threatening our position in the auto places this year. It is a little bit early to celebrate our promotion but it's certainly not complacent to look forward to Championship football.

I don't see any reason why we should fear the Championship in terms of finishing top half because confidence and momentum play a huge part. But I do think Chambers and Skuse have already overstayed their welcome by at least two seasons. The left back berth is a concern and I want to see a talismanic CAM in the Mason Mount mould and more fire power if we are going to have any chance of reaching the Premier League. The opportunities will be there to buy a few players who can bridge that gap for us for fees of around £2m - £5m and the question is whether Evans will back us to the tune of £10m if we do get promoted.

Easier to lose form than pick it up. We should of course be forward planning, identifying targets for January so we strike while the iron is hot. But it's foolish to start considering how to beat teams in the league above us and risk losing sight that we need to continue beating teams in our own league. Otherwise we might not get there in the first place.

I would hope our owner and manager are thinking 3-5 years ahead and not just about this season or even next. There should be players on our radar for a lot more than a few weeks before we sign them.

It’s not so much a case of beating teams in any particular division but about building a team and a squad that’s an ongoing job.

Failing to do this effectively is the only reason we are even in the third tier.

After all that's gone before it's difficult not to be cynical and worry about who'll get sold come January.

But let's just enjoy the success while it lasts

My money would be on Dozzell to leave with only six months left on his contract at that point.

    Donacien’s days are surely numbered.

I can’t imagine us letting anyone important leave unless we capitulate.

My money would be permanent moves out for Donacien, Roberts, Dozzell, and Judge (if he's still unsettled and wanting a return to the Championship). A few fringe players might be loaned out as well - the likes of Nydam and Dobra would benefit by regular, competitive first team football somewhere.
