I’m confused. I knew he got the yellow in the first half and thought (as does my score app) that he was given a straight red for the second offence. Therefore surely he misses 3 games.
Anybody know the rules/laws for this ?

Must admit I didn't see a 2nd yellow so assumed it was a straight red card, which I thought at the time was harsh...but maybe ref did show a 2nd yellow it just wasn't shown on telly......

I agree Tram, he showed a straight red only. As I say, the ‘Flashscore’ app says the same. I assumed the offence was a straight red card offence.

Is the 3 game ban only for a violent offence, with just 1 game for a professional foul?

Just had a look on offish and as Os said it says a 1 match ban and will be available for Blackburn even though it was a straight red card...

Do we not need to develop an alternative tactic for the better and brighter teams if Eze and Chair are going to be nullified. One or both should still start but intelligent tactics dictate that they then become foils to draw defenders away from the players who need to do the business instead of them. Taraabt did not always turn up/was not allowed to do his stuff but we were still effective because we had other outlets. I'm sure the master Baker will be thinking along those lines.

Yes, this is why I would have liked to have seen Bright a little earlier. We were getting no joy with our normal starting eleven and our normal approach. Therefore, we needed to try something different, either with new personnel or new tactics or both. I wouldn't want to make too much of it because we have done so well to date but Bright only came on (69th minute) when we were behind (from the 53rd minute) and Pugh arrived in the 76th minute; it had been abundantly clear for some time that we weren't going to win the game with Plan A. Nevertheless, in the time allowed, neither of those subs had much impact.

It also seemed odd to me that Bright replaced Eze. As we were chasing the game, I thought Kane might have been the one to make way, especially as he had not contributed too much going forward on the right side.

I had said to my son shortly before Eze was subbed that we I thought should go 4-4-2, with BOS replacing Kane. Kane had got into a lot of good positions, but didn't have the guile to get around their left back. Taking Eze off was a strange one for me.

Well I know it was only one game but really!!!!!!!! Bilic 1 MW 0 imo or did McLaren take over for the day?! (Harsh) and MW didn't change anything until well into 2nd half. I am usually very positive about us but from the very first whistle our first thoughts were to pass the ball backwards...something we have not done for a long time. Possibly outthought tactically by Bilic with no options but it seemed the ball wasn't moving quickly enough and we were lazy and too many touches. Lumley had more touches than most of our outfield players 1st half. Can someone tell Eze to make angles to receive the ball.....that boy has much to learn. Kane had a shocker 1st half and Cameron cant play right of a back 3 but hopefully that was because Hall was out. The tempo hardly got raised and the two goals were shockers, bad decision making all round and when we got in good positions the final ball was poor. Apart from that!!!!!! lol

I suppose the one positive was we kept them quiet until the first goal and maybe MW kept it the same because of that but that's a SM, JFH tactic that I hate....At home after 4 wins in a row you attack with pace and speed of movement NOT lethargy.

Maybe pressure of the chance of top of the table, maybe Sky cameras, maybe the mighty ..lol WBA....who knows but in the words of my son...........WE BOTTLED IT

    Interesting week ahead!!!

Having only seen highlights, I do wonder why their defender was allowed the amount of space he was offered before scoring the first. Also, the second - that wall....enough said.
Barbet has been guilty of a few dodgy challenges so hopefully this sending off gets this out of his system.
1 defeat in 5 - if we keep this form will won't be in a relegation battle. And Rodney's post earlier really hits the nail on the head. We are still a work in progress after the summer re-build - let's just keep the faith in MW

Sitting right behind his long slowish approach in the Ellerslie we were all shouting 'close him down' but you could see at least four Rangers players on the edge of the area hesitate until it was too late. You can only assume they all had other roles in the game plan and that this was such an unexpected source of attack that nobody felt able to take responsibility. But you still expect your keeper to stop those kind of long range efforts particularly as he was pretty much right behind it.

As a defence you‘re willing a full-back to have a pop from that far out. It was terrible goalkeeping, bounce or not.

Fantastic player though for 18 and the one time Kane got the better of him he was smart enough to put an arm across while the ref and linesman looked on gormlessly.

I thought we showed them way too much respect which Warbs touched on. Agree Kane was ineffective and BOS should have replaced him much earlier. I thought the ref was very poor generally. I do think we have the players to give them a better game than we did.

I was at the game. I think Warburton lined us up wrong for this one. He should have known that their massive defenders would have gobbled up every long ball and that they were going to crowd out and double up in front of their D/their half of the midfield.

I think he should have gone with 1 striker, probably Hugill. That striker could have been dumped up front, with the odd chance that something may fall through to him and give him a chance.

What we should have concentrated on instead was crowding their half of the midfield with 1 more midfielder, and Warburton should have asked them to create more movement there and pull them all over the place when on the ball.

Although they didn't have too many chances, which is some small credit to us, we often got quite stretched with the three at the back and started to have issues as the players grew tired in the latter stages of the game, especially as the passing got worse.

Having Dominic Ball in midfield made the three at the back worse, as he did not really provide any outlet. Every time he touched the ball, he seemed to turn around and pass it backwards, adding more pressure to the defence.

The doubling and sometimes trebling up by WBA was sometimes masterful. Not an easy game at all, but I think we could have lined up to try and battle and counteract what they brought. I wouldn't have minded losing if we tried that. But we seemed very weak on Saturday.

Hopefully there aren't too many numpties around who are losing it.. Back to the training ground/education zone and for some of our fans back to remembering that the team was assembled for tuppence ha' penny and that we should have no justifiable expectation of a top 6 finish given the handicaps we have just because we've done well in the first fifth of the season.

No great expectation of a top 6 finish no, but we as a Club should be aiming there anyway. For me our biggest failure as Warburton has highlighted, is a lack of must win culture, lack of belief, and getting overawed by teams like WBA as Warburton admitted the players were Saturday. WBA are a good Championship team but not unbeatable if we had been at our best, which we were a long way from Saturday.

Always the aim of course. I may be a surrender monkey when it comes to agreeing a deal with the EU but do expect my team to try to win. And handsomely at that
