Will another Hamilton win secure the WCC & WDC?

Feels like it was a massive step forward today. If he has been lucky it’s because even when he doesn’t win it ends up not really denting his lead, and now with a win it feels like he is on the brink now.

Don’t know about the maths but in reality it would take a bizarre set of circumstances for him to lose it from here.

You can control which car gets your slipstream. If you are trying to defend position you move in front of Hamilton after a couple of meters.

Watch Bottas last year. He gives the tow to Vettel then switches to Hamilton

Leclerc's actions in Monza were no better, for what it's worth. Vettel agreed to a plan before the race and didn't stick to it.

On this occassion Charles did what he was told and gave Vettel a helping hand, the team wanted to reward that.

Na etom vsyo, dryzja! ("That's all, friends!" - in russian translation).

That was interesting experience and new emotions for me. There were interesting races in F2 and F3, but it was rather boring race in F1. And yeah, I can rate an organisation of Russian GP like "average".

Quite clear teams can turn engines down or even off from the pitlane. Has been done for years. Scuderia turned Sebs engine down, he decided to park up and leave. Mercedes did the same to Rosberg on multiple occasions. Not a secret.

If I was a team manager I would definitely nobble my own cars. It’s a well known strategy for winning constructors’ championships.

huh? He isn't deciding who to favour with the slipstream there, he's taking the racing line through the kink and staying defensive into the first corner.
tbh, if that was Ferrari's plan and CLC is pissed off it didn't happen, then I'm glad he and Ferrari lost, because expecting a driver to slow down at the start of a GP is possibly the stupidest plan I've heard. Vettel on the radio was bang on the money, make the gap and then decide what to do.

that sounds like the strategies Haas & Renault use.

You may be right that it was daft, but the point to voice your objections is in the team briefing. Instead, he agreed to it and then suddenly had issues with the second part of the plan once it had got him into the lead.

CLC complaining on the radio only came after he was told Vettel would let him by on three consecutive laps. I don't blame him for getting a bit frustrated at that.

Without some lousy luck, and Prost swooping in on the seat for 93, Mansell COULD have bagged 4 titles. Wouldn't call his only one lucky. Ye b'stards! :p

Bit harsh on Hill too. :p

Just watching the race re-run on sky. When the virtual safety car came out, there were 24 laps of the race left. When Hamilton came out from the pits he was 9 seconds ahead of Le Clerc, so yes he was fortunate to be in that position. However, Russells crash that brought out the full safety car meant Le Clerc could pit and be right behind Bottas. There was still 20 laps left of the race. What's Le Clerc's excuse for not getting past Bottas with 20 laps left in a car on the same tyres that was far superior speed wise on the straights? This is the same Bottas that was 13 seconds behind Hamilton in the same tyres when the VSC was deployed.

Yeah, but he's had his engine turned down, three bags of gravel chucked in that back and had his hands tied behind his back.

Because all through the race, even compared to Vettel, he was horrid around the final turn (to the tune of about 0.2).

Plus to me it looks like the Ferrari aero updates make it a horrid bugger to follow a car with.

Yet right at the start Vettel was able to slipstream past Hamilton and then get past LeClerc?

That baldheaded Andrew Benson that looks like he has cancer doesn't like Vettel does he, never has anything good to say about him, would say he probably slept with he's wife but surely no women would go near that baldheaded twat

Yes, because he had a much better start! And didn’t have to go round the last corner, where the aero matters.
