It was our central defenders that cocked our season up last time around, so that is good to hear

Hopefully they will continue to improve and we can rack up some clean sheets.

Changing the keeper might help in that direction.

Agreed thought Lynch and Willis looked pretty solid. De bock gaining fitness but looked a decent acquisition.

Lynch is a beast, late in the 2nd half he blocked off one of their forwards to Shepherd the ball out of play, their lad just bounced off him.

I know it was his first league game but he is just what we need, especially alongside Willis.

Yeah, and shortly before that one of their forwards tried to block Lynch's clearance - and came away with a noticeable limp for his trouble.

And on wednesday, later in the match, one of our corner attempts went awry and we were caught out, Lynch didn't have any trouble getting back into position.

He is what I thought we were getting with Loovens, early days but this new defence looks the real deal, massive improvement.

He's not that quick, but Willis is. Hopefully they will complement each other.

Lynch and Willis gave every impression of being a solid pairing for the rest of the season, I was impressed. De Bock was also tidy as **** and businesslike, wouldn't be surprised if his passing rate was 100%, and McLaughlin I don't particularly rate but he was one of the few players for us today who got better as the game went on.

If we've got some money to spend in January but the wage bill is going to be tight as a ducks arse, and trust me that's real tight, I don't think I'd be looking at the defence going off today. They didn't keep a clean sheet but the goal was a bit of a freak incident and they were solid otherwise at clearing their lines and not just lumping it forwards in possession.

Can’t say I’ve seen him but I trust everyone’s opinions.

No chance back for ozturk? Must be third choice surely in front of Flanagan

Let's hope the standards are maintained.
Best to judge players after a half a dozen or so games. Remember the big German BSA bought. His first game he was universally panned. By the end of the season he was probably our best player ( neck and neck with mvila ) .
Problem with ross he keeps chopping and changing players and pairings and we are back to square one.
I have to say now our gk ie getting pelters ..is it due to ross forever changing.
How many different cb's and CB pairings has JM 'endured' so far.
BSA brought in Kone and for the rest of the season kept the same back 4.
Van aanholt ( sp ) went from every fans favourite fall guy to a very very effective LB who earned himself a very nice transfer.
Stability and organisation are essential in a back 4.
As a former cb It is bewildering ( but not surprising ) that ross doesnt see this
