On my way back home. Completely disagree TBH. 1. We scored v 10 men and created other good situations. 2. Lloris made up for his brain fart with 2 magnificent saves right in front of me and my daughter...the free kick and where he clawed the ball away from a header. 3. Sissoko...truely brilliant performance 4. Winks ... like Sissoko 5. Some good subs at the right time...Lamela was just what was needed. 6. Defensively we were really solid...10 men for 70 mins (including added time)...and in 2nd half they created 2 chances that required great saves. 7. We showed bottle, pride, determination and did not fold after the sending off and Lloris giving them a goal. 8. The fans were magnificent and helped pull the team through. Maybe I am over the top cos of adrenalin but this is how I see today.
Are they? With an idiot for a captain and manager who looks iffy to say the least. Maybe if they are lucky. If they had the ref we had today they will be down to 9 men quite soon.
That's how I saw it. Very positive performance that shows there is not a huge problem with the squad. Even Eriksen looked more fiesty and up for it. N'Dombele is beginning to look the part as well. All this without Dele, Sess and Lo Selso. and Dier just back and looking strong. Did you see him pulling our defence upfield. I think Dier is captain material.
When you equalised your fans were certain they'd win...was great to see our players prove them wrong Was very funny watching them sing ... "harry kane he spits when he talks" ...just before he scored Was beyond ironic when they sung "we sing our own songs" just before singing "Danny ings, he's one of our own" Was a great match...well done Southampton for playing their part
Yes, he has potential. I've always liked his character and conduct on field. He hasn't been the greatest leader at times and recent poor form aside, I like the guy. I really do want him to get back to his best. I still think his best years will be dropping back as a central defender, personally. Come next season, we may not have any other choice.
Other than the two brain farts, it was a good performance. Especially with 10 men. Just shows we can dig deep when we need to. We need more of this mentality, but at the same time, we’ve gotta cut out these “shoot ourselves in the foot” mistakes. It’s so bloody spursy!!
Whatever your view on the details of today I think it's probably true to say that we all feel a lot better after that game than we did after the previous three. Let's hope this is the turning point for Spurs and we can get back on track and continue with this winning day.
i said it before, but our 3 away games have been bloody tough. Leicester are a new team under Rodgers! Crazy to think that by GW14 we’ll have played all of the “top” teams away apart from Chelsea. Another tough period coming up where we’ve got to stay resolute, but it gives us a big opportunity after that to put a really decent run together. - especially if we can get some more players in January!
Just watched some highlights plus MOTD. Mad to think Tanguy is only at about 60-70% at the moment. Can already see he's gonna be special. And that second goal we scored gets better the more you watch it. World class link-up play by Kane, Eriksen and Son. Those quick movement and sharp passing moves that lead to a goal are some of my favourite, up there with the 30 yard screamers.
Lovely goal, more like it! No complaints re: red card, even if Redmond made the most of the 2nd one. Aurier was brainless and the 1st challenge was worth 1.5 cards!
Yep, just don’t understand the guy, clearly has the talent but absolutely no brain. That first yellow was so unnecessary, no need to dive-in in that position where there was no danger. The second as you’ve said was soft but someone of Aurier’s experience should know better in that situation, you’d expect KWP/ Foyth to maybe get caught out there, not a multiple Ligue 1 winning, international captain RB.
Tanguy's goal today, reminded me of Dele in his first season with us. Played in a similar position. When defenders cover Son and Kane , you need a player to 'ghost' into that position and to finish clinically.
The second was so soft I think that it was punishment for the VAR goal celebration. The ref just waited his time.
Everybody is so quick to blame Aurier for what in my view was a ridiculous decision by the referee. OK card for his first offence but I don't think the second was even a foul never mind a yellow. Calling it SOFT what the **** does that mean it's not soft it's wrong. Taking ques from Andy Townsend comments does not impress me.
