I mean good win, and I haven't seen City loose yet this season I'm on a good run but we are going to have to start playing better than that at home. Pompy were really poor today and City were doing their best to give them a change back into the game.

Seriously negative football at times in what seemed like promising positions.

I agree but I had money on us to win by the single goal so happy days!

A bit of a football cliche but i thought the sign of a good side was being able to win when not playing well?

I think we are slowly getting better and Stewart back soon we can kick on to the next level.

What people need to understand is (and this isn't aimed at you personally) is that we're British, complaining is what we do best, and there's always room for improvement. Even if we won 4-1 today we'd probably say that we shouldn't have conceded a goal or that we should at least have scored 6. That's just the way it works. It doesn't mean that we aren't enjoying the win by any stretch of the imagination, it'd just be a bit boring if everyone came on here and was full of positives without a single negative, there'd be barely any discussion if that were the case.

I wouldn't say we didn't play well. Perhaps our attacking wasn't as good as it should have been but you could hardly ask for a better well-organised and orchestrated defensive performance.

I don't say how you can sat that about todays performance, maybe about the other 6 games, but not todays. We had a shakey 5 minutes towards the end, but other than that we dominated them. We could have easily scored 5 today.

IMO today was far from negative.

it's not that, if we did that away it would be fine but come on... The atmosphere was a disaster today because we just aren't great to watch. I hold no Criticism to the Manager he is doing a good job and we are getting the results but that is hardly going to draw the crowds in is it.

I did just mean enjoy the win. Not having a go.

I'm so conditioned to poor results (over decades) that I just enjoy the moment when we do win.

    I save inquests for Sunday.

FFS what are you on, a good performance against a potential play off quality side and you appear to want us to risk the result by going gung ho in the last 5-10 minutes like some of the morons who sit near me. BBC give stats as 10 on target to nil in our favour. Basso hadn't a save to make and their keeper was the best player they had. I give up at times with what our fans expect.

For me today was a game we dominated, Pompey didn't really get a sniff. Like NP said 3/4 goals wouldn't have flattered us. I'd love us to be able to win like Man United are at the moment, but a win is a win and things look so much brighter than they did after the Palace match. UTT.

I don't know how anyone can describe that first half as negative, we were all over them like a rash and it was very entertaining to watch.

I'd like like to have seen us go for it more in the second, as Pompey were cack, but it certainly wasn't a rubbish game.

The amount of chances that we created today was as many as we have all season at times, we obviously need to try taking these chances, i think Waghorn will come good as his movement was class today, i think Mclean is still missing that killer instinct.

Best we've played this season. Another positive performance from the team (and that's what they're becoming). Portsmouth's keeper was their best player.

Great result & good day all round.

Negative football FFS - what game were you at today?

Had we got a deserved second goal we would have romped it.

Couple that with the fact that defensively we were excellent I don't know what some people expect.

    Well done City.

How anyone can snag todays game is beyond me, well worth the entrance fee today. Portsmouth were poor today and agree their keeper was their best player. 8/10 and our pet dog missed his usual kick up its arse today

I thought they played very good attacking football today. Waghorn was useless, made dire mistakes, and needs a month on the training ground. Apart from that we totally ran the match.
