Might also have something to do with JWP at RWB. Son is arguably the best in the division in that inside left position.
Trying my very hardest not to moan and whine today (Tuesdays good will isn't going to wear off for a while) but I'm still very disappointed over the lack of defensive transfers this summer. We still just look so fragile at the back.
Obviously a gift from Lloris all the same but shouldn't be understimated how intelligent Ings was with how he delivered that pressure. If you watch it you can see Ings kind of easing towards Lloris as the ball is rolled to him as if he's taking for granted that he will kick it long- giving him that second of false security. As soon as Lloris started to turn Ings instantly broke into a sprint as Lloris turned his head and Ings left his eyeline. Simple but part of what makes Ings good off the ball even beyond just work rate. If he just gunned towards Lloris as soon as the ball went back then he would have just got rid. Obviously overshadowed now by going back down but just wanted to highlight it.
While our back line is a huge problem, that moment was really made when Spurs escaped the attention of our midfield. Once they had the chance to run at our defense unfettered, it was virtually guaranteed that we'd end up facing a quality goalscoring opportunity. Given the choice between a back three or two CBs and a defensive mid who scarcely ventures deep into the opposition half, I'll take the latter.
Ten men or not, that attacking threesome will always create chances, especially on the break. Glad that the half time whistle went then as it looked like Spurs were trying to get the ref to card a Saints player to try and even things up at some point.
Indeed. It's why, once we equalised, I was happy for us to stay with three CBs. Too risky to revert to two CBs. But now we're behind again, there's a lot less for us to lose.
I just want to know what Valery has done. Not applying himself, demanding more money, wanting to join L'pool! Just tell us what it is! Its doing my head in.
We can still get something from this game, as the game goes on Spurs will tire more, we need to be patient.
