So I see it turned out to be a good night for the naysayers and merchants of doom. As if Donald was going to give a simple yes or no man.

Still believe it's on personally, that won't change until it's stated from the top it's dead as I want it to happen.

 

Difficult to read between any lines here. I would imagine it’s not easy for Donald to actually say anything while this process is going on... not sure of the benefits of the talk-in in the first place

 

No, as I said, by the sounds of it! So, like most people, we have to go on what people have said. Did he say anything more positive?

 

Right guys, here goes!

There has been an awful lot of stuff on social media and other message boards ranging from the takeover being off, being ages away or happening immediately. It's bizarre how last night's event has been reported on so widely, and at times so wide of the mark with polar opposite opinions and what seems like a scramble to be ITK or shoot people down.

First question of the night was about the takeover. Stewart gave an absolute text book answer. People are interested, it's been reported in the media, there's been pictures in the papers etc. He went on to say MSD are huge, they want to look into everything and that these things take time. Some people have taken this as there are problems. It was clear that he couldn't comment or give any more detail than what I've said above due to the obvious legalities.

I don't know what people were expecting? An announcement of this magnitude was never going to be made at a Consett branch talk in.

I'd say he was playing things pretty cool, seemed confident but at the same time trying to give a bit of a "calm down" message. The comments Stewart made about other parties being interested was more so to do with previous due diligence and not the current work being undertaken. The previous due diligence had received excellent feedback, the club is in a healthy position and will attract interested parties as a result.

My own personal opinion is that this is very close to being announced but things are being done properly and there's no need to panic.

 

Aye, I really think they didn't think through this talk in! Would have been better either to cancel or, if they didn't want to let people down who have put effort into getting it arranged, could have ran it but said "sorry, we can't answer anything about the takeover"; it would have been disappointing for those there but they'd understand due to the likelihood of NDAs and it wouldn't have led to things being misinterpreted.

Everyone who was there sounds positive about it. He didn't say 50/50, he didn't suggest they were looking to sell to any other buyers, sounds like the main thing he's unsure of is what, if any, role him and Methven will have, but he always admitted that might be an issue that he'd just have to accept so I can't imagine that would be a deal breaker

There was nothing negative about anything he said. His answer was textbook. I could have written it before he even started to speak. It was almost as obvious as Arsene Wenger not seeing something!

 

So we really know nothing more and nothing less than we did before the talk in but automatically some take that as a negative rather than a positive.

The talk in was well thought through, believe me! People are looking for the smallest snippet to hang their own agendas on. Stewart tried to answer what he could on the takeover, but as you point out NDA's got in the way. Nothing to panic about, things progressing.

 

Thanks. I was out last night with people not into football. The few times I managed to check in here and the other place, it seemed to be falling apart.
So it's good to have more considered and positive info.

Think there's just some absolute miserys about! Must admit, I was miserable when reading the thread; 50/50 chance of it happening, Donald talking about other buyers, sounded like he was preparing to let us all down. Then you wait a while and people who were actually there confirm that one bit was made up bollocks (the 50/50), one was misrepresented (other buyers referring to previous people who looked at the club, not ones looking now whilst this is going on) and that they left feeling he said what he could and that they feel positive.

As a vaguely rational person my mood went from very disappointed to optimistic. Trouble is that mood swing hasn't happened on the thread over the road, loads still seem to be negative, still mentioning 50%, it's as if they've just totally ignored the positive stuff from the people who actually heard what he said and could read his body language etc. I think Donald is quite emotional as a person, if he felt they were near to walking away he'd feel that he'd let everyone down and you'd be able to tell it from his body language, no one has suggested he seemed at all morose. Some just want to stir the **** and I've no idea why

 

I really think that this is Stewart trying to shut down the negative interpretation that has been reported from last night without giving away too much.

No doubt this will be interpreted from falling apart at 51/49 to the polar opposite.

I'd say it's pretty close, quietly confident. A good 8.5/10.

People are just making stuff up who have not got a clue. I can assure you that is absolute total utter rubbish. When and if I do a deal it is what I think is best for the club not my personal finances. I know some don’t believe that but they can apologise afterwards

I agree, I didn’t post it to put a negative slant on everything I think he’s just saying what he can to calm the nerves of those that took negativity from last night. Not that it will calm some
