Think positively, yes it was a heavy defeat but it still only cost you three points <cheers>

  3. I'd like to blame your lot for making them angry - but I doubt it would be a very credible argument...

I don't think it unreasonable for the players and staff to pay the fans who travelled at some cost to them for their day out.

Big difference between Norwich & Watford is that Norwich had a proper game plan, played tight & narrow & pressed hard as a team
Watford just sat back,no pressure on the ball and got precisely what they deserved
    Very poor from Flores

The way I look at it, is to look at the last two games. How many points did we expect? None. And perhaps we wouldn’t have thought it unlikely to lose to a two goal difference against Arsenal and a six goal difference against Man City. So goal difference is as expected, but we got a point out of those two games. And it’s points that divide teams before goal difference. It doesn’t mean Norwich will put ten past us. Yes, there are things to learn from the game. But relax, and put the result down as but one result of our season.

    COYH <cheers>

This is the heaviest defeat in my lifetime. Strangely enough the worst previous one was in 1959 against Crystal Palace away, when we went down 1-8. I say strangely because that was the season of Holton and Uphill when we were promoted. We also won our next two games scoring four each time, and three weeks later put seven goals past Hartlepools. The previous time we conceded eight goals was in 1926, which despite popular belief is before I was around.

The difference between Norwich and us is that they have Daniel Farke as a manager, and he is a carbon copy of Jürgen Klopp in his footballing philosophy. We don't get people like him ! As manager we get a succession of Pozzo yes men who have bought into their system. Their system involves sending us scores of half finished products of the lower reaches of Serie A or La Liga and expecting a journeyman manager from the same origins to mould them into a team for the year. There was a time when managers here actually had some say in the recruitment of players, but those days have gone. As you say - we sat back and waited to see what would happen - and it did ! You might be able to get away with such a 'plan' (or lack of it) with a well organized defence but that is not our strength at the moment (we don't actually have any strengths !).

Dennis Uphill was very much a journeyman player, but the two of them together were lethal. Although the manager was supposed to be Ron Burgess, the real person organising the team was Cliff Holton. It was a very different game in those days, and it is often forgotten that Cliff was only a part time player, which is why Watford were able to get him from Arsenal who wanted him to be a full time player. They still had the heavy leather ball back then, and I am sure some of the players today would collapse in a heap if they came into contact with one.

When that ball was wet and you headed it, you always managed to get the laces directly onto your forehead <yikes>

I am bitter and twisted still.

I guess it was Citehhhh but FFS what a bumming.

We are in the ****e and we have more chane of a clean sheet that a brothel. FFS.

On reflection we were not going to win this match even if we turned up. The real problem is that we are not getting points from matches we should be getting and if we had got say 6 points from our first few games, this loss, although embarrassing, would have been expected. I am concerned about the psychological effect of such a result when our confidence is low and QSF has to engineer some confidence to get a few wins now City is over. Defensively we were awful today, City were magnificent and a joy to watch but we made it really easy for them by giving them loads of space, not closing them down and sticking close to whoever a player should be marking. We put out a defensive minded team and they just looked confused, heavy footed and scared at times.
I am not sure how much benefit Sarr got from this game and he must be wondering if he has made a big mistake. Where is Wellbeck, he has some experience to give surely?
QSF needs to throw the current plan out and start again otherwise he will get a P45 for Christmas by which time Silver may be out of a job .
We can and should be better than this given the resources we have. I believe we can turn this around.
