I've been fine with Cedric at RB. Not that I think Valery has been doing much wrong, but Cedric has come in and taken his chance. I have no issues with him now being in the team. When he's at RB, that is.
The only thing I would say is that he has reached his ceiling and Valery was showing real promise in the second half of last season and will only improve IMO but only if he gets minutes on the pitch. But yeah Cedric has been ok, much better than he was under Hughes. Thinking about it, it might be his flexibility that is getting him the nod ATM.
As a sort of conspiracy theory, I wonder if Ralph is making a point to the club as we let Matty Targett go and never replaced him as he clearly feels that Vokins is not ready to step up yet.
I'm not so sure they have fallen out - there appeared to be zero tension between them. Though they are both professionals.
Listening to the Portsmouth match on Radio Solent this afternoon, I was unaware of what a mess Portsmouth are in. Seems that last season's squad has not only lost players but those who have moved on were key to why they did so well. Loads of fans seemed to be calling for Jackett to be fired which is ironic given how close they were to promotion in May. It will be interesting to see how things develop down at Fratton Park. Since the Americans have bought the club, everything seems to have been on the up but this season would appear to be the first time their fortunes are in reversal. If Saints score first on Saturday, the FP faithful will turn against their team. As alluded in this thread, I have no idea of who these players are at Portsmouth. What is clear is that the squad is weaker than last season and the division is much stronger than 2018/19. I don't see Portsmouth in the mix for promotion this season and despite the facts that they have games in hand and Bolton next week, this could be a relegation battle for them. Trash Pompey on Tuesday and it will be intriguing to see how this will effect the rest of the season / Jackett's future.
To be perfectly honest I couldn't give a **** where they end up this season as long as we don't lose to them.
As Ian is famous for his long posts and some don't read them I will just highlight and underline below the most relevant parts: You're welcome.
Pompey actually have a decent squad at L1 level, it's just not performing which is why the blues chumps are getting angry. They will not be in relegation trouble but could flirt with the playoffs. Try to think back to our L1 days, we gave Man U a real scare in 2011. We were an ok L1 team and Man U were a bloody good prem team. This is a fight, forget the status.
